Hunter: The Vigil Outline
Hey, gang:

As you know, Hunter: The Vigil has been nominated for the ENnie awards. Thanks for making it so popular! If you're the type who likes to "look under the hood" of game design, I've put the original outline up at my blog, which you can find over here.

This is draft two-and-a-half of the outline, which then, after more tinkering, went on to Chuck Wendig, who contracted, designed, wrote, and developed into the monster-killin' jamboree Hunter is today.

Yes, every game starts with a treatment like this. It's sort of an evolving document that takes on a life of its own over the course of development and writing.

So, is the version you posted the early brianstorming version, or a later one? It clearly has some differences, but a lot is also the same as the published version. I am curious as to how drastic a gameline is changed throughout development of the outline. Is it usually one person who comes up with the initial outline?

The posted version is revision 2.5. You can see some of Rich's notes in there, and my responses to them.

Some games change more than others between each phase. I had the benefit of being involved with every iteration of the World of Darkness games up to that point, so I knew a lot of what the managers were wanting to see, which helped cut down a lot on the gaps between versions.

<b>Hunter</b> was going to have a supernatural advantage and energy? Maybe conspiracy members with Endowments need that sort of thing, but nobody at the cell or compact level IMO.
