The rules:

1) When you post, you grant but corrupt the wish of the previous post. (in as big or small way you see fit making the wish less desireable.)

2) When you are done with corrupting the wish, make a wish.

example:
post one: "I wish I had some cake."

post two: "Granted, but the cake if full of dirt"

I'll start.

I wish I didnt have this headache right now.
Before you post, you might want to check out the the list of published spells first to see if a published spell might not do what you want to do already.

I believe someone has also saved all the work we had on the former incarnation of the forums. If whoever it was could volunteer a link, that would be great.

Let's make some magic!

Note: Let's keep everything constructive, ok? Criticism is good, as long as it's explained, but let's keep the pointless arguing to a minimum.

Here's links to some of my spells. I'll get more organized later and maybe try and get everyones'
Not that I'm seeking a canonical answer. I understand ambiguity being good for the game, especially in this respect. But I'm curious - for the not-so-creative - to just see what archetypes or ideas they mined to get what we got.
So, here's a few things from various Discworld books that I thought I'd share. :P
Feel free to contribute to this thread by quoting things from other sources! Or other good Discworld quotes I missed, for that matter.

The mote!
"A Thaum is the basic unit of magical strength. It has been universally established as the amount of magic needed to create one small white pigeon or three normal sized billiard balls." - The Light Fantastic

Solar leadership in the First Age...
"He did of course sometimes have people horribly tortured to death, but this was considered to be perfectly acceptable behaviour for a civic ruler and generally approved of by the overhelming majority of citizens. [footnote: The overhelming majority of citizens being defined in this case as everyone not currently hanging upside down over a scorpion pit]" - Sourcery

The dangers of summoning demons (I love the last sentence of this one)
"Any wizard bright enough to survive for five minutes was also bright enough to realise that if there was any power in demonology, then it lay with the demons. Using it for your own purposes would be like trying to beat mice to death with a rattlesnake." - Eric

This seems specifically to suit the Lover Clad in Raiment of Tears, but could apply to any female Abyssal, female Deathlord, or possibly the Eye and Seven Despairs
"Messin' around with girls in thrall to Creatures from the Void never works out, take my word for it." - Moving Pictures

Relentless Lunar Fury!
"Greebo's technique was unscientific and wouldn't have stood a chance against any decent swordmanship, but on his side was the fact that it is almost impossible to develop decent swordmanship when you seem to have run into a food mixer that is biting your ear off." - Witches Abroad

Solars with low Compassion
When you can flatten entire cities at a whim, a tendency towards quiet reflection and seeing-things-from-the-other-fellow's-point- of-view is seldom necessary. - Small Gods

Some Twilights and No Moons are just thoughtful philosopher types. Doesn't mean they're useless.
"That's why it's always worth having a few philosophers around the place. One minute it's all Is Truth Beauty and Is Beauty Truth, and Does A Falling Tree in the Forest Make A Sound if There's No one There to Hear It, and then just when you think they're going to start dribbling one of 'em says, Incidentally, putting a thirty-foot parabolic reflector on a high place to shoot the rays of the sun at an enemy's ships would be a very interesting demonstration of optical principles." - Small Gods

This is relevant in a few ways...
"You can't go around building a better world for people. Only people can build a better world for people. Otherwise it's just a cage." - Witches Abroad

They want to play mortals during WWII on the front lines. However, I intend them to become Sin-Eaters (I haven't finished the book yet) by killing them along the way.

But until then, I want to have them be physics, as per Second Sight. I remember it mentioning ealy in GtS that those who get the Bargain usually have some access to death.

There are only two players. Anyways, I decided they should both have the see/communicate with ghosts physic power (from Second Sight, don't remember exactly what it's called) and some other unique powers.

One of them is for the medic, and he has the power to grab ghosts and rip apart their corpus, and then fuse that corpus onto a human body missing the same part. So he could take apart a ghost's arm and fuse it to a man who lost his arm. In effect, this would cost him one willpower and allow him to make a Dexterity + Medicine/Occult roll to rip material from a ghost and heal someone with it, recovering anything from bashing to aggravated health levels. Probably a bit powerful, but I do want this to be somewhat of a "super healing" as compared to how supernatural healing usually goes.

The second has the power to enter a grapple with someone, and on his turn spend one willpower to instantly kill them, by ripping their soul out which immediate becomes a ghost. Said ghost fades away after a few minutes if it doesn't have sufficent reason to get an ancor. Any supernatural being that doesn't have a soul (Vampires, Werewolves, Prometheans) would be completely uneffected. Again, I want it to be a very simple "instant kill" if he can get his hands on you (keep in mind this is during WWII, so it isn't useful from 100 yards away).

But I'd like some advice on how to work some of this stuff.

Also, I would GREATLY appreciate some ideas for stories to run. It's going to start in a battlefield, but I haven't thought much besides that yet. Still reading books as it is.

She's a twilight that started going into Bureaucracy but didn't get any charms (I intend to now), Sorcery (but someone else picked that up as I went into:), Archery and Resistance. I really only have one combo and it's an archery combo.

I would post everything that she has, but I want to pose a question to you. In our last session we reached the final climax of our story and it involves us saving the new Maiden of Time, getting all the memories of our past selves (even before this moment, I know that one of my past lives was Kal Pax and I have been wanting to live up to his legend) and we are going to go fight The First and Forsaken Lion, who is I think now married to the Scarlet Empress, then save creation from the attack from below and the incoming attack of the fae, and then finally, we are going to fight a former god who is now a primordial. Don't ask to know what happened and how it happened, I would have to try to recap 3 years of gaming for you if you really wanted to know. So, basically, we topped this last session off by being awarded a lot of experience that we get to use immediately. Here's how it's broken down:

1500 for Charms and Combos
1000 for Abilities
500 for Attributes and Virtues
450 for Essence and Backgrounds

So, do you really want me to post up everything about my character's stats or is this enough information to work from to at least give me some ideas here. Oh, and all books, within reason, are fair game.

My mother's on her fourth marriage. She's Protestant, so she thinks she's not living in adultery, even though my father is still alive.

I've been married to Isabelle for 12 years now and will be with her until one of us dies.
I agree with the teachings of the CC that divorce is an abomination and that it is the root of so many spiritual, psychological, and social evils.

Actually, I've never seen flaws of invulnerability raised in a game at all, outside of Infernals, because they have some damn big ones. Everybody else, though, just perfects everything regardless of situation, PCs and NPCs alike. Which is rather disappointing. Personally, I think using the flaws a lot would add fun thematics. Enemies trying to cut high-Compassion characters off from their friends and families, high-Valor characters rushing headlong into dangerous situations... if you're attacking a guy who seems invincible, stop attacking him and find his vulnerability, right? So far, so good.

I was actually considering running a game based around this, where seeking out and exploiting enemies' flaws of invulnerability is preferred over turtling against them (and using some other things I've never seen done before, like using social combat), but I ran into a few big problems and questions.

1. Are characters even aware of the flaws, either their own or others'? Does a high-Compassion Solar realize that he's only so strong when he's protecting his family? Does the Abyssal fighting him realize that he can make the Solar's defenses fail if he does the right thing?

2. Assuming that people are aware of flaws in general, how does one find them? Let's consider two cases here.

In the first, our Solar runs into the Abyssal, but they don't fight. The Solar has a lot of time to investigate and maybe use some social charms, see what's important to the Abyssal and get an idea what sort of Virtue scores he has... this could give him a decent idea of how to cut off his perfects, though it does entail quite a bit of work and assume both that the Solar is decked out for social-fu and that the Infernal is either willing to talk or has a network of people the Solar can exploit. Given enough time, though, the Solar could probably get a pretty solid idea of how to kill the Abyssal's perfects. I generally like this scenario altogether, since finding some way to exploit the guy's virtues is more interesting than beating on an invincible turtle for half an hour.

But now for the second case: The Solar is walking down the road and he's jumped by some Abyssal assassin he's never seen before. The Solar has no options that I'm aware of to figure out what the Abyssal's flaw is, so he either has to run away beat on his perfects until the other guy can't keep it up. On the one hand, this increases the value of surprise attacks and using tactical withdraws instead of just punching EVERYTHING to death the first time it takes up arms against you, both of which I like. I'm not so sure how much I like taking away the ability to straight-up fight people you just ran into, though. I was considering making a new charm for each combat ability that lets you realize what somebody's flaw of invulnerability is once you've seen them use a defense tied to it a certain amount of times. It seems thematically appropriate to be able to find the weaknesses in an enemy's defense by seeing them fight for long enough, too. Would doing that break anything?

3. Assuming there's some way to address the previous two points, is this even viable? Any strategy talk I've seen online largely sides toward mote attrition and ignores flaws of invulnerability, which makes me feel kind of like I'm missing something. The one big fear I have is that I'd go for this and then find out that using Zillion Flurry Combo #6 to mote tap the enemy in a few rounds is still easier and more effective anyway.

Thoughts? I'll admit that I'm still largely an ignorant n00b when it comes to Exalted mechanics, so feel free to point out anything huge that I missed

Right now, I like to connect the fall of Creation to the origin myth of the Forsaken & the fall of Atlantis for the Orders. The Exarchs are Exalts (ha!) that overthrew Heaven & remade the entirety of Creation to preserve it from the depredations of the Fair Folk, Yozis & Neverborn. Of course, the Fair Folk still manage to squeeze in to snatch people up.

Also, Prince of 100,000 Leaves is the Broken-Winged Crane, even in the far, far future of Creation, the Crane has yet to be written.

I suffer from Type II Bipolar Disorder. It's like being manic-depressive, except there's no manic part. I just have days where I cut myself and days where I don't. I've been off my meds since August 25, when work canceled my insurance. My symptoms have been coming back.

Today's a bad one. It's hard to even move. I can't think of a way to describe it. I want to say it's like being in quicksand, or being crushed under a localized area of supergravity, but those don't work because they imply an ability to struggle against the phenomenon. The best I can do is to ask you to picture someone with laryngitis opening his mouth to try to force words past his silenced voice box and then realizing he doesn't have anything to say. Another way to put it is that I imagine this is how a ghost feels. I realize those aren't terrifically helpful descriptions.

I'm not weeping today. I'd just as soon not embarrass myself like that, but sooner or later I'm going to. I can feel it creeping up in my chest.

I'm not proud of myself for writing this. I'm aware this sounds like a pathetic plea for attention, and I guess it kind of is. But mostly I just want to try to express how this feels and have someone tell me they understand. I also don't want anyone to know that I'm weak enough to do this, which is why I'm writing it online. People can assume I'm lying, and I'll prefer that if I come out of this.

I want to tell someone how this feels, and I also don't want anyone to ever know I feel like this. No matter which option I pick, I'm betraying one of them. I'm a hypocrite. Normally I'd hate myself for that, but today I don't have any ability to feel strong emotions. I just dislike myself about as intensely as I dislike smokers. I don't like it, but I also don't care enough to do anything about it, or say anything to them, or even spend one whole second thinking about it. The emotional equivalent of an annoyed shrug.

In a couple of days I'm going to be beyond humiliated that I wrote this. I hope I can delete the thread when I feel like it.

I can still think, kind of. That's how I know this one isn't as bad as it could be. When it gets bad, I can't even think. All the voices in my head are stillborn. I don't mean literal, psychotic-person voices. I just mean an ability to formulate words and feelings and intentions, which I express as me talking to myself in my head.

I'm not sure that last thing I said was even technically a sentence, but I can't figure it out right now. Maybe I'll come back to it when I'm less stupid.

I don't really want to get better. I should, but like I said, I can't care about much right now. Getting better takes too much effort, and even if it didn't, I was better for about six years while I was on my meds. Then one thing happened and all that went away. This is the default state of me. I mustn't ever have children.

The downswings are getting longer and closer together. Sooner or later, it will kill me. That's not a statement that I intend to commit suicide, though if it gets bad enough that's statistically pretty likely to happen. I don't mind. Everyone dies of something sooner or later, and everyone has to eat a peck of mud before they die. No point complaining about it.

Yesterday when I went into work, I'd been crying for a few hours. I stopped because I was too dehydrated to keep going. One of my coworkers noticed my eyes were swollen and asked if everything was okay. I said no. She told me I needed a hug, hugged me, and told me that people out there care. Usually people being nice to me makes me feel worse, but yesterday it felt like nothing at all. That's because there may be people who care, but I'm not one of them.

I'm crazy, but I'm not stupid. I recognize that things are getting more dangerous. I just don't care. I'd rather not get in a car wreck today, but, well, shit happens. Life is a rosary strung with little miseries, and the philospher tells them with a smile.

I'm tired of feeling like this. I'm tired of being me. But there really isn't another option. Well, okay, there's one other option, but I'm not willing to go there yet, so. One way or the other, I'll stop feeling like this. Everyone does.

White Wolf suggests the Dark Ambitions thread and the What Lunars SHOULD Have Been Like thread are related to this. The forums fail the Turing test. Take that, forums.

Okay. Enough of this. Time to go to work. I wonder if I'll finish off my shift.

Whatever. So with any thaumaturgy how about a ritual one step above Essence River Channeling. An Apotheosis ritual to make one a God, Demon, or Elemental, or ex misc spirit. It would be cool for an antagonist. Say it requires something like an Exalt or being with an essence of 3 as a sacrifice, and one must already have Awakened Essence and an essence of at least 2.

I am thinking of trying this in a game for a cult.

Also what about grand thaumaturgy rituals, like the sort that requires the hearts of a Hundred Sacrifices on an Eclipse. Things to use to do things like restore youth or bid the Demon Princes to head your words.
And also. Feel free to chip in. The more the merrier. If it's been done, my bad, I wanted to make a fan made World of Darkness and my first idea was already done before.

This is a fictional depiction of UFOs and encounters with extraterrestrials. If I copied anything, persons, events, materials, etc.; my bad. This is my first fan made WOD and will tweak. There won't be a final copy unless interest dies down or a final copy is wanted.
Inspirations:
The X-Files (all the episodes based on UFOs and the Extraterrestrial story arches)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
UFO Files/ UFO Hunters (History Channel)
The Fourth Kind
Roswell

We all thought we were alone in the universe. But we still have the creepy feeling when we look up at the stars, some one or some thing is looking down. The light in the sky following your car, lights shutting off when the power is on, the dread feeling that you might get taken away. You heard of other people being taken to somewhere, a ship, into a bright light; and then coming back with no memory and strange metallic implants in them.
UFO sightings are uncommon, some are Earthly like with experimental aircraft of the military; some are lights from civilian aircraft; some are natural and/or astrological; and there are truly Extraterrestrial. Craft that don't look like airplanes, helicopters or satellites, that can hover in place without a sound or dash across the skies with blazing speeds and directions that the XR-71 is put to shame.
Encounters are catagorized in seven types (refered to as kinds).
The First is the most common and documented, your basic UFO sighting.
The Second is evidence of the encounter, radiation, lost time, teporary power loss, etc.
The Thrid is a friendly contact with Extraterrestial contact; about 1/3 can be blamed on the Wizend, but most are from Extraterrestrial.
The Fourth is one of the most feared, Abduction; 1/3 to 1/2 are Wizend Abductions depending on the area, but Extraterrestrial Abductions tend to have implants in victims or are gone forever.
The Fifth is unofficial government contact and coporation, conspiracy theorists believe that the government group known as Task Force Valkyrie was form to help with Extraterrestrial policing as well as Supernatural, civilian Fifth Kind encounters are usually on the friendly side.
The Sixth is a UFO crash landing; the most famous being Roswell and Keksburg; a variation would be a UFO crash that resulted in the cause of a human (or Supernatural) death.
The Seventh is another feared one; human-Extraterrestrial hybridisation and colonization.

Most Extraterrestiral encouters are usually recorded by mortals. Mortals not only have the majority of encounters, but also have gained psychic powers, formed cults around UFOs, even been abducted. Supernatural encounters are very rare, even for Supernatural ufologists who is more than likely tracking down their own rougues rather than Extraterrestrials.
Vampire might warrent a abduction or contact to gain insight of the undead state.
Werewolves will be too dangerous to abduct, but contact wouldn't be out of the question, depending of the pack or personal attitude.
Mages might be just as interested as Extraterrestrials, humans who can conjure things like fire or lightning out of thin air or unlikely conditions can warrent investigation.
Promethean would be a risk for Extraterrestrials, most of the time it's been contact only, but the Extraterrestrials have been misidentified as the event Prometheans refer to as the Quaslim.
Changlings are met with extreme caution, Extraterrestrials can contact some Changlings, but might be hunted by Changlings for the same reasons Extraterrestrials would hunt Changlings.
Hunters of conspiracies are dangerous, especially those who can envoke divine intervention of either good or bad deities. Tier one and two Hunters are treated like any other mortal, but only with more cuation as they advance their ranks.
Sin Eaters would be treated the same as the Vampires, abduction or contact to investigate their after life.
But can the reverse be done? Since a spirit can affect things in the material if it has a numina that allows it, can mages affect things in the material with their spells when they are in twighlight?

For instance, if my mage were to "hide" by using Ghost Gate (Death 3) or Twilight Shift (Death 4), would he be able to cast spells affecting objects in the material or zork an opponent that can't see him?

It's measure in years, not months, now. However, I got into WoD after nWoD already came out, so that's what I learned. I've been told that some people have been "converted" to prefer oWoD over nWoD. On the other hand, I've heard people tell me horror stories (not the kind we like) about stupid metaplot and mechanics even more broken and silly than the ones in nWoD.

What about oWoD is better, from the perspective of oWoD players, than nWoD? I'm really curious to hear what about nWoD is stupid, lame, or inferior when compared with its oWoD counterpart. If I get some good answers, I really will give some oWoD books a cover to cover read through and will try playing the game.

Now is your chance to convert an nWoD heathen! lol
