Some of my biggest complaints stem from killing off an actor as capable as Liam Neeson In Episode I and not even giving him a "Ghost Cameo" in either II or III? C'mon now, a Yoda mention as a plot device was just tacky.

Much as I dug Qui Gon Jinn (the midi-chlorians claptrap notwithstanding), I'll never understand why Lucas didn't even watch his own damn films before doing Phantom Menace:

OBI WAN KENOBI: You will go to the Dagobah system. There you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me.

And by Yoda I mean Liam Neeson.

Technically, he was trained by Yoda...when he was a kid. Then he had a few masters, including Qui-Gon. Then Yoda again to do the force ghost thing.

So maybe it should have been: You will go to the Dagobah system. There you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me the most.

That could be the case. But then, I think we are all giving Lucas way too much credit as Is. :p

Probably. I love the universe he started, but I think its best when he takes a step back. My examples are Episode 5 and 6 and the later Clone Wars animated series. Once Geroge let em run free, it was awesome.

Well, the way I understand it Lucas Is stepping back from now on because he apparently doesn't want to be known for Star Wars...his next project Is a military movie about an all black platoon in Vietnam.

Doesn't want to be known for Star Wars.

Maybe he should have done something about that four decades ago.

Black Platoon in Vietnam. Well good luck with that Georgey. I can't wait for them to hook up with "Ping Sing" the native rice farmer whose not only the comic relief of the movie, but also one of his trademark racist characters! I can almost hear it now, "Row no, Rieutenant Rhonson! Ping Sing think theys come and krill us rall!" Then he hides behind his triangular hat.

If I recall correctly, Lucas was going to use Qui just the way he used Obi (now I don't know it that's a good thing or what since it's more of retreading steps) but Liam Needon wasn't interested in follow ups.

He keeps saying that...

BTW, have you seen interviews with George when he talks about Star Wars? I'd swear he sounds like an old guy who only has only seen the 1st movie maybe once..just the way he talks sometimes..

Yeah, I've seen a couple of his interviews over the years. I'm of the opinion that he came up with the concept for A New Hope and had other people do the rest...

A discussion about stupidity and inconsistencies in Star Wars...backing away slowly lest I go off....That would be going off about those topics, not on the people discussing them, just to be clear.

I gotta say, Star Wars is best when Georgey boy is far far away from it.
I like you, but I don't understand how your brain works.

That's more or less the truth of it. Like I said, The Secret History of Star Wars delves into that (a large sample can be found here. It's very eye-opening): That guys like Coppola helped guide Lucas's directing, that his wife (when she wasn't flirting with Scorsese) helped fine tune his scripts and that people like Lawrence Kasdan helped keep the stories from becoming completely ridiculous. You should see how shit-awful the first five drafts were.

It really was the work of a village and not just one man.

Is that why he was in AotC?

From what I know, the reason he didn't appear in spirit form was because of prior engagements.

Besides, the earlier Quigs died, the more credible "There you will learn from Yoda, the Jedi Master who instructed me" becomes.
I'm working on a nWoD conversion to Star Wars. Posts and threads by me that doesn't make sense probably have something to do with that.

I'll have to read that book at some point.

He was? All I can recall his his voice in Yoda meditation scene, and all he yelled was "Anakin! Anakin!" which they could have sampled from the 1st movie.

That's the one. And AFAIK, it was done for AotC.

On an unrelated note, I had this really bizarre SW dream last night. I rarely remember my dreams, and I can't recall the last time one had to do with SW, so I feel like sharing even if just for laughs:

In the dream, I was picking up an acquantance of sorts who had arrived in town via bus. I don't know who this person was, but it was implicit in the dream that I knew them. I took them to the hotel room or apartment of someone else I don't know, but whom I apparently knew in the dream. There the TV was on.

On TV, I could see Mark Hamill. Not young Luke Skywalker Mark, but old, novadays Mark. He was dressed in a white basketball uniform and playing with a basketball. He looked ripped, much more powerfully built than I have ever seen him on screen. He looked like what you might expect from a professional basketball player, only one in his fifties. With him was this middle-eastern guy, not much younger, and a bit stockier built. He didn't have a basketball uniform, but clothes that I can't recall, that for some reason identified his as a coach.

Being on TV, this whole thing gave me the impression of being a news broadcast, with voice over commentary. Suddenly, as Mark was about to dunk the ball, the other guy trips him, and starts yelling at him as he falls down clutching his leg. I don't know what he yelled, but the news commentary described it as sexual harassment for some reason. The guy finishes his tirade by kicking Mark square in the gut, which apparently was pretty severe, because Mark groaned and didn't get up. Next, the news camera swiveled around the guy who kicked Mark while he did a fighting game-style victory pose with a huge grin on his face. The camera swiveled around the guy as if it was an actual fighting game victory montage. Only thing that was missing was dramatic music in the background.

Watching this in the dream, I just laughed and said to my aquaintances that the middle-eastern guy was simply trying to secure a place in the history books for kicking Mark Hamill.

Then I woke up. Bizarre...

And now, to justify taking this to the thread, what bizarre SW-related dreams have you guys had?

Hmm....I just assumed they re-used some audio for that. Weird...

Hmmm..you know, as weird as this sounds, I'm not sure I have had any...or any that I can remember off hand.
