Mage Chroniclers Guide solicitation

From World of Westfield:

Description:
Mages can do almost anything. Their
capacity to create, transform, preserve, and destroy is almost limited
only by their imagination. What happens when that limitation is
removed? What, ultimately, can a Mage chronicle be if it goes further
and stranger than ever before? The answers lie within this new
Chronicle Book for Mage: The Awakening, which gives a treatment of Mage
as seen through the lens of seven different genres and includes
alternate takes on using the magic system to represent entirely new
sources of power, expanded information on character design, cabals,
Paths, and orders, plus extensive advice and tools for building the
perfect Mage chronicle, with numerous sample chronicles to utilize.

Interesting.  Sounds like I will either love it or hate it, depending on how much they dwell on "alternate takes."  But I'm sure it will be filled with a few other things that will end up being useful for me.  Look forward to it either way.

Sometime in November, IIRC.

I am almost as intrigued and excited as I was for Seers of the Throne and Summoners. Particularly at the idea of alternate systems for the Mage concept.
Needs Help, the Destitute Lament, Communicative Soul of Anbhann, the Forlorn Burren, 12th Soul of Isator Levi,

Clófaidh, the Drill That Pierces the Heavens, 8th Soul of Isator Levi

Abcán, the Poet of Contempt, Expressive Soul of Fiacha, the Grinning Patrician, 5th Soul of Isator Levi

Aerten, the Red Right Hand, 3rd Soul of Isator Levi

Dagda, the Crucible That Scours All Ignorance, 9th Soul of Isator Levi

With this blurb, this book would be everything all I need for my Mage games. I discowered lately that I start be be bored with Mage, becuase I run about 4 diffrent games, and running to this day two of them - one political and one "indiana-jones"-like. New aproches and general "spins" to the game would be great. ;]

I would also like to add that it has what I think is the most beautiful cover of any Mage book to date. Take a gander.

That is a fine looking cover.  Much better than the worst, which for me was the tragedy that was Banishers: The Supernal Clam Bake.

You can't possibly mean November of this year?

O.o

Even Night Horrors: Unbidden (Another book I am hardly able to wait for.) was scheduled during Q1/Q2 for its Q4 release.  The possibility of this book hitting us this November makes me tingle in all sorts of places ....

This is truly a breathtaking cover, however, my favorite is still Free Council (although this one may become my #2 favorite).

That is one of the best covers I've seen on a WW book in a while.

PS: Props to Mythicfox for the Firefly reference. Damn I miss that show.

Me too, on both accounts (loving it and willing to buy a print).

Though the Chronicler's Guide cover is a serious contender. I think it only gets behind the Free Council cover because I don't particularly like the name logo. Considering the illustration alone, it's on the same level for me (as well as the cover of Guardians of the Veil - these three surpass any other covers WW has ever made, except maybe for Scion: Ragnarok).

Agreed.  I really wish WW would open a prints section in there online store, or provide a sticky post that links to their most popular artists and their prints stores (where available).  I would buy some prints for several of the pieces I've seen in their releases, covers and otherwise.

One of my favorite purchases back at my first Gen Con in my tweens was a folio collection of the Rifts cover art, I still look at it with fondness!

Oh, drat. This book sounds so awesome I may have to delay the start of the Chronicle I want to run just so I can consider the implications of the different genres / supernatural power sources.

Publish sooner!

I'm waiting too for this to start a possible mage chronicle, hell... as if my mind was not confused enough :-P
I'm about to finish a crossover chronicle and i was thinking what to do next, my two best options were RfR and Exalted, now i'm too intrigued by this book, i guess (and hope) i'll have to put mage in the list :-P

November is never near enough

If there's an alternative source of power I wonder if there will be different takes on paradox, disbelief and unraveling? (this is what I really want to see as I'm rubbish at house ruling and balancing to make changes myself)

I know it's not the same but Disbelief and Unraveling always remind me of the Invisible Boy from the film Mystery Men, who can only ever become invisible if absolutely no one is watching...

Aye; I was thinking about the paradox rules last night and how transitional they seem.  Disbelief and sleeper penalties to paradox really feel like a hold-over from Mage: the Ascension; paradox now occurs in many other situations, and there doesn't feel like a there's a good metaphysical reasoning for paradox to react to sleepers imho.

Lokathor
Wednesday, October 07, 2009 9:30:35 PM(UTC)
`Because their sleeping souls carry a fragment of the abyss with them wherever they go.

`Because, as The Matrix says, they're still connected to the system, and so Exarchs can act though them.

`Because long ago some sleepers didn't cause paradox, and they were all killed off either directly or indirectly when they got too close to Mages. Now the sleepers with the "natural defense" of causing paradox are the only kind left.

`Because even in their sleeping state they resist the impossible with their own kind of half-magic that comes out as a paradox.

You could even combine one or more of those at once.

I recall hearing something like "June", but its too far out for anyone to know for sure yet beyond what the notoriously unreliable Amazon has to say about it, unfortunately.

Check your store - my local independent one-room FLGS sold me a copy the week between Christmas and New Year. Esdevium must have it listed.

EDIT - "Book of the Dead" that is. Not the Chronicler's Guide (I'll get a comp one day, oh yes) or Unbidden.

Unfortunately for me I live nowhere near one, nor do I drive so I've got to rely on amazon or somewhere like IGUK or start the monthly trudge of going through all the usual suspects websites and call them if necessary to find out if they have it in stock, are likely to get it in (they can never say) etc.

Which doesn't give me much hope for any upcoming book like the chroniclers guide, either.
