Am I really the only one here who's seen this movie?  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472033/

It's chock full of Promethean goodness, once you get around the fact that the created aren't actually made of people.

Has anyone else seen it?

I have. I liked it.

The alchemical nature of the source seems like it fits in well to the Promethean mythos certainly, as well as the Machine as a Pandoran.

I loved 9! I think it could also fit in Exalted's Alchemicals.

I thought it was ok.  It was a bit too much beating up things then finding out the point of your existence so I really wasn't that big of a fan.  I sort of tuned back in at the last 20 minutes when they were explaining what was the point of it all, though it had a lot of promethan themes it just wasn't enough for me to be that into it.

Yes, I have.  I was thinking about Promethians while watching.

Yes I've seen it as well.

It was not as filled with awesome as I was hoping it would be, but I think that comes from what is basically an 11minute plot stretched out to 2 hours.  It naturally gets a bit thin.

It's worth seeing once, if for no other reason than for story inspiration, but I doubt if I'll go see it again or get the DVD.
My friend said "A vampire, mage, and werewolf walk into a bar....."  My response "Sam Haight shows up and kills you all"

I saw it yesterday and I thought it was pretty awesome! Loved the story, and the backstory of it all. Nicely done!

The story and the characters were the weakest parts of the whole thing.

SPOILERS to follow.

Why did the creator guy hide from his creations instead of keeping them with him, to offer protection and to educate them?

Why did he not make it clear that the life-stealing device should be kept AWAY from The Machine? After 7 killed its cat, all they had to do was dismantle the sleeping thing.

Why did he continue killing himself to make the doll people when The Machine was already dormant? Surely he could destroy it himself. If the cat thing was too scary for him, two or three of the doll people would have been enough back up.

Why did the Machine want to suck them up? What did it gain from that?

After the snake coughed up 7, why didn't The Machine suck her up right then? When the snake was distracted by 9, how did The Machine miss 9, and why did it ignore all of the commotion of that fight?

Where did all of The Machine's creations go? Surely all of the flying things didn't rush into the factory just before it blew up.

Why was 1 such a stuck-up ass who insisted on surrounding himself with the trappings of pretentious, vaguely religious authority?

Without any more human souls to sacrifice with the doohickey, they can't make any more of themselves. They don't even really know how to repair each other, and they'll eventually rot, rust and fall apart. What exactly are they going to make of the world?

Visually, the movie was nice, but it was just as shallow and contrived as Transformers II. A drawn-out mess of action that frequently lacked any good point.

That said, I enjoyed it a bit. The Machine was cool.

Why did...

I can answer all of those questions with two words: Plot Device.

Stick out tongue

Without all of things, we'd have no movie. hee hee..
