I am currently preparing to run a game with new players at my university. I plan on a werewolf game set right after William the conquerer takes power but while england is destabilized.
Ive done some basic historical research but i'm also normally a requiem st.
Im wondering what recomendations you might give me or any ideas you have for this historical setting and also werewolf in particular.

Quick recommendation.  Find a useful source or few sources.  Read them.  Agree with players that those are references.  Keep them short enough to not have too much hidden and from there %$#@ history.

Too often I see games get bogged down in "well, I looked this up and that couldn't happen because a blacksmith in 1069 registered a land deed and Williamshire and it said that ...."

Blech.  Frak.  Zorn.  It.  All.  To.  Heck.  And.  Darnation.

Don't let facts stand in the way of a good game.  It's good to have common ground that can give players a feeling of security, of knowing they have room to work in that won't get pulled from under them.  It's another thing for the Storyteller to not have room to work in either.

Ok sounds good. I picked up a few history books on the subject and have been reading up on the battle of hastings. Are there any good movies or tv shows of this time period?
I bough shadows over the UK but so far it hasn't been to useful since its set in the modern era and doesn't really touch on history.
I want to have a set up where an influx of new uratha with the normans has upset a delicate power balance that has kept an ancient evil and the pure in check.
