To be fair... Anita Blake sleeps with -ANYTHING-, including a werewolf in hybrid form while sleeping with a werejaugar in hybrid form, so ... there's some hope?

To be fair, Anita Blake is Suetiful All Along.

Twilight is my crackfic.  I devoured all four books as fast as I could, complaining long and loud about how terrible it was the entire time, because they were terrible.  Just awful writing, but I couldn't get enough of them for some reason.

I already told people who spoke to me about it, but Meyer's horrible writing style aside, I really don't have a problem with Twilight.  I don't love it or hate it.  It is what it is.  I like the Supers being Cursed with Awesome but the characters being Sue in some manner (if not completely) is annoying to the extreme.

I want more movies and books focusing on modern day wizards that don't involve Dresden or Potter.  It's not that I hate the two (especially the characters of Dresden), just want more, ya know?  First the necro-whores and now the yiff fandom.  When will media give me my magicks?  :(

On a side note, any insultive and catchy term for mage fans?  I can't think of any that is catchy.

When its cheaper to film magical, mind blowing special effects compared to grabbing some kids, slapping fake fangs on them, some white-face makeup, tight leather, and making them act like overconceited, emo-driven narcissists.

One I've used for a while is Fingerwagglers.  Best used when accompanied by hand gestures and insulting talk of "oogity boogity".

Another from my days of playing Everquest, where when your spell failed it "fizzled", usually resulting in your immediate squishy death was the term "Fizzlers"

It does give me hope of seeing a good werewolf treatment..
Dog Soldiers.

Next?

Ehhhh... It's alright, but not what I'm looking for in a good werewolf treatment. It's better then say.. Skinwalkers, or the last 4 Howling sequels.. but not what I'm looking for.

Have you seen Blood and Chocolate?  I thought that was a pretty interesting depiction of the pack mentality, and how they would structure their society to overlap humanity.  It wasn't super awesome, and at times was a pretty cliched "coming of age, rebellious teenager" story, but I thought they did the wolf aspects fairly well.

Wolf pack mentality is not human and chimpanzee pack mentality, however.  Wolf packs are a family unit, while chimp and human troops are aggregates of individuals who may or may not be related.

True but we aren't talking about wolves, we are talking about a creature that is wolf and human.  So the behaviour of a true wolf pack wouldnt apply completely either.  There are aspects of a human psyche that would clash with the wolf instincts.  Like I said, it wasn't the most awesome piece of werewolf cinema out there, but the way they had their territory, and defended it against drug dealers, and HOW they defended it and dealt with their problems was pretty interesting.

I really did not enjoy Blood and Chocolate. Many things made me mad about that movie. She almost dies getting slashed with a tiny butter knife made of silver? Just a little much. Then again, I read that book. Which wasn't that good either.

Define instinct.

I hate romantic movies in general but liked Blood and Chocolate.  Something about their interactions felt right from a WtF perspective to me (minus the mating aspect.)

Ok let me clarify, instinct=wolf mentality to use your term.  The general and overall behaviour of a creature.

You said that wolves are not like humans and chimpanzees so (I'm assuming) my recomendation of Blood and Chocolate as a decent depicition of werewolf society was invalid to you.   My response was to basically say "yeah but we aren't talking about wolves, we are talking about fictitional werewolves, who are a little bit of both species, so saying the one movies portrayal of their interaction is incorrect is kind of a moot point, since it's a fictional being, thus anyones portrayal of their society is just as valid as any other.

That was pretty much what I was trying to say.

It seems to be the general consensus, but hey, its like watching reality TV shows or Tyra, you cant help but watch them for how bad they are.

Agreed.  Hell, I have forms of entertaining media that my logical, rational side knows it's nothing short of utter dog shit...and yet I will defend it through and through if anyone says otherwise.  Guess that's why they call them guilty pleasures.

then I had to watch the damn movie

My girlfriend forced me to watch it too. Thankfully she had seen it already and agreed we could watch it with the hilarious comic styling of the ex MST3Kers.

I suggest downloading this and then watching the movie again, playing this with it.
Don't put it in your mouth...
