I was thinking, and I thought it'd be interesting to see what people made of this idea.
Take a show or comic or novel, and see how people alter it in different ways to match Changeling.

As an example, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
The Turtles are a Changeling fractured by the Gentry into four distinct entities, but their memories were not strong enough to return to a human form and so they stayed in the Hedge as a four-sided Goblin.

Splinter is a dual Beast (Although I don't know which)/Wizened Soldier Who was transformed into a rat and made to fight other animals, both small and large. His mien is that of Splinter, obviously.

Shredder is an exiled Gentry, With the Title "Growling Man of Blades".

What would somebody make of Thundercats? Or.. Ye gods, something like Toxic Avenger or the ilk.

I've ran a sort of pop-fiction WoD game, which included TMNT (I called them Kappa, hobgoblins that evolved from the sewers of the Hedge.  Splinter was a changeling, created by a cold but non-sadistic Keeper that turned him into a rat and taught him.  Shredder was a Changeling, but one with very terrible morals.  They were in the little asia district of NYC, using directions.

Super Mario Brothers:  Mario and Luigi are fetches.  They are the replacements for the originals--Mario turned into a sour and greedy little goblin, a miserly Wizened creature that calls himself Wario.  Luigi was turned in a murdering, psychotic Darkling called Waluigi.  Though the Mario Brothers spent most of their time on Earth (They are not particularly amoral fetches), they ended up crossing into the territory of the Princess of the Toadstools, a Fae that does not act against or for anything (Hence her need for guards and heroes).  The Kappa King, a terrible and dark creature from the vast abyss beyond and below all things, Feuds with her.  Their Legends often include her kidnapping, and the Mario Brothers' rescuing her.

Moulin Rouge:  The Moulin Rouge was a freehold in old Paris.  Long ago, they ceased seasonal rotation--though Ziddler, the Spring ruler of the Freehold, accepts other Courts with open arms, he feels he is the only one with the financial know-how and wiles to run a brothel, nightclub, and freehold of fae.  The Freehold is a very functional business, but is still on the dredges of society.  The old fox Ziddler is trying to swindle a rich mortal into funding the Freehold, in exchange for their star attraction--Satine, a beautiful and charming Treasured Fairest.  The Freehold boasts a number of exotic girls for the entertainment of men--A flexible and bitter Tunnelgrub Darkling, several beautiful Fairest, a Snake-woman, a mermaid... even a Gargantuan ogre-woman and a small Chatelaine Wizened.  Their head defense is a tall and strong Stonebones Ogre, as well as a gay couple of Gristlegrinders.    They are lucky to have avoided the notice of Gentry--Or at least, so they think.  As their fates spiral out of control, as their financier becomes a terrible problem, and Satine's health deteriorates, they begin to wonder if some unseen and cruel Fae is taking out his wrath on the Moulin Rouge.

I love the Moulin Rouge one!

I always thought Jim Carrey's character in the Number 23 would make a good psyche profile of a Changeling. And I imagined that he was the beast-loving dog catcher Changeling, and his old Persona, and that of the detective, was his Fetch, who killed his girlfriend accidently when his Echoes activated and he los control; this was when Dog Catcher Carrey returned.

I thought Lion-O from Thundercats was a prime example of the time discrepancy Changeling's have to contend with.

Also, the film "Let the Right One In". That Girl is either pure Darkling Changeling Material, or Gentry in the making. I personally think she fits a Changeling mold better than Vampire.

Heh, my friends watched that movie and thought of it.  There are even scenes where Satine has some pretty obvious Glamour trips (Probably from Christian's rather strong desire for her).. of course, Changelings might not think that much about the moon singing love songs to them, so long as there is enough glamour.  Plus, the very.. interesting entertainers of Moulin Rogue would be interesting to see beneath the Mask.  Also, we decided the story would be most interesting if the Duke was a human.  The way we described him has become one of our favorite sayings in our acting troupe.  "I'm a faerie, and you're crazy."

Since I've gotten into Changeling, I can't help but see things in pop culture that can be used for the game, however, with Halloween at hand, I think these two are perfect to mix together.... rogue Scarecrow Ministers and slashers.

Take Freddy Krueger for instance, a vicious child killer and madman in life, his words of revenge as he burn resonated in the town of Springwood, Ohio. Finding this all too perfect to use, a member of the Scarecrows, a Razorhands Darkling who've studied a great deal on the Contracts of Dreams, launced his campaign of terror after letting a few years pass. However, his occasional appearances in the nightmares of the children of Springwood weren't enough to inspire the fear he hoped to harvest, so, his methods turned abit more.... bloody... the more he kills, the more fear he spreads, and the more fear he spreads, the more powerful he becomes.

Perhaps a member of the Scarecrows, a water-dweller Ogre heard of the murders at Crystal Lake, and leaning how Mrs. Voorhees killed to avenge the drowning of her dear son Jason. He too may take avantage of the paranoia and fears she brought about, creating and becoming the legendary monster behind the mask.

Along a long stretch of road in North Flordia, every 23 years, the Scarecrows sends out a lurkglider Darkling, to keep the legend of the Creeper alive. For 23 days, this lurkglider is to spread terror, allowing himself to be sighted, and even commit acts of violence to stoke the flames of fear.

Off in the middle of Texas, several Scarecrows live together, commiting horrifying acts, always with the corpsegrinder Ogre called 'Leatherface.' This group is a dangerous one, allowing their members to commit horrendous deeds, all in the sake of spreading fear.

Also, another classic slasher, Pinhead, along with his Cenobites, would be perfect for a group of the Gentry working together, willing to bestow the greatest of pleasure and pain to mortals who are able to figure out the Puzzlebox. "Angels to some, Demons to others..."

I agree with every single one of those, except for the Pinhead. I see Pinhead and the others as prime examples of modern-day Keepers. Perhaps so obvious as to be cliche, but... Eh.

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear, but, yes, Pinhead and the Cenobites would be perfect as Gentry/Keepers/The Others/Fey/So forth... the very fact that Pinhead is obsessed with how much mortal flesh can take reminds me of so many other Keepers.

Sorry Creep, I misread.

Actually, in retrospect, and following with the horror theme, actually having Pinhead being a Changeling and the other Cenobites being Exiled Gentry he's managed to contract into service would make for a pretty interesting Antagonist. So twisted as to identify himself as Fae rather than Human.

The Maxx is an Ogre with the body weaponry merit whose Mask has burned away.  His Clarity is dangerously low, though his heart is in the right place.

Julie shared a Durance with him but has largely blocked it out of her memory.

Mr. Gone's role is ambiguous.  He might have been one of the Gentry, now exiled.  Or a more sinister member of the Autumn Court.  Any way you slice it though he has an unhealthy tendency to toy with humans and their dreams.  Or maybe he's just the forum moderator.

The isz are hobgoblins . . . or something dream-related.
As always YMMV.

Compilations:  Source Material, Lost Kingdoms, Umbral Domains.

Lost:  Two Fae are stuck in a particularly convoluted Legend.  They've been abducting groups of humans every few decades to participate, and when they do they don't bother creating Fetches -- they either lure them in along oceanic trods, or else snatch the mortals in some way to make it seem simply like a ship lost at sea or a plane crash.  The Others are a group of Loyalists serving the Fae going by the name Jacob, who were tricked by the other Fae (through a devious little bug-eyed Wizened) into slaughtering the previous batch of mortals (i.e. the Dharma Initiative), necessitating the abduction of a new group.  This batch is showing quite a bit more promise than the previous.  A few managed to escape back to the mortal realm, but were convinced to return to rescue those left behind.

Heroes:  All it needs is seemings.  Otherwise, it's already a basically a Changeling game.  The Company was a group of Lost who, along with some Ensorcelled mortals, tracked down newly escaped Lost, Loyalists, and Lost with dangerously low Clarity.  Sylar is a Telluric Fairest with dangerously low Clarity and a powerful Goblin Contract allowing him to steal Contracts of those he kills.  Peter Petrelli is a unique variation of a Mirrorskin Darkling -- instead of mimicking another's appearance, he can mimic their Contracts.  Etc.  Currently, a group of Loyalists working under the guise of a traveling Goblin Market are looking for Lost to return to their Fae masters.

Dexter:  He's a fetch, left behind when a Fae stole the real Dexter and Brian Moser away and had a dream-poisoned mortal kill the mother, who tried to get in its way.  Dexter doesn't really understand what he truly is, but he does sense that he's not quite like other people.  Harry knew it, too.  And he senses on a subconscious level that the real Dexter, the one whose life he's living, will be back eventually.  And even without knowing why, he's sharpening his skills and his blades for that reunion.  But he mustn't break Harry's code, because without the code, what is he?  What is he?

I love it!

Since I started playing changeling, I see possililties for game ideas everywhere now. Most every disney movie could be adapted. Tim Burton's stuff. It's late but I'll post if I think of anything else.

The Nightmare Before Christmas - each Holiday world is an experiment, playing with the notion of these quaint human customs and how they evolve.  Granted, there are almost no mortals abducted into these Realms (or are there?), but the Gentry and their Actors/Wisps/whatever do escape once a year to imprint themselves on the world....

Paprika - Paprika is a Fairest Dancer oneiromancer who has come to a very, very useful arrangement with her Fetch, Dr. Chiba Atsuko.  Together, they treat very human psychological maladies with the aid of a Token crafted by the unhappy Ogre Gristlegrinder Tokita who only wishes to be loved.  The Wizened Chirurgeon, Dr. Shima, supports them even as the Chairman (a Wizened Chatelaine loyalist) apparently opposes their efforts and Osanai (a Darkling Mirrorskin) does his best to help.  And it doesn't help that a very powerful, Poisoned Dream has escaped from someone's mind, and is busy infecting mortal minds throughout the city....  (Detective Togawa is a mortal, both Ensorcelled and Pledged to allow Paprika access to his dreams, but this has the eventual benefit of going the other way.)
I can believe things that are true and I can believe things that aren't true and I can believe things where nobody knows if they're true or not.

Repo! the Genetic Opera- There is a Realm that is a mockery of the World as it is now. Within it is a decaying City where Flesh, Drugs, and Technology are the Law. The City is ruled by a Dying True Fae known as "the Surgical lord Largo, the High King of GeneCo" that takes the form of a decadent corporate leader with Three Changelings, a Dancer addicted to narcotic Glamour, a Mirrorskin that steals the faces of female changelings, and a Razorhand with a temper as sharp as his blades, that were taken to be his heirs are fighting over who shall rule the realm and the company when their "father" passes on. Under the Control of the Fae is a group of Chirugeon wizened who act as Repomen to retrieve Organs from the inhabitants of the Realm. Along with the Chirugeons are Gravewights that harvest narcotic Glamour from the corpses of these dead inhabitants only to sell them to the various beings in the realm and Fairests that have been trained along the Chirugeons to acts as the real Surgeons known simply as GENterns and surGENS. Despite having all these changelings under his control there are three that the Fae prizes above his own "Children". A Chirugeon that was forced to kill his own wife, A young Muse that believes she suffers a horrible disease, and a Nightsinger that is forced to sing for the Fae as to not be thrust back into the blinding darkness. The weaving of fate however is converging for all the inhabitants at the strange oncoming force known as "the Genetic Opera."
