I am planning on starting a PbP game based in Mexico City around 1995. Here is what I have worked out so far:

1) The Seasonal Courts are here, though the Summer Court is more based on seasonal storms than heat waves; from my research, temperature extremes are not as much as they would be elsewhere in the country.

2) No Snowskin. I was intrigued by the claim that it has snowed only twice in Mexico City's history. I decided that something about the city actively opposes snow.

3) Pollution is as bad, or worse, than the real world. (This is actually the reason I am sing the city in the first place.)

I have never been to Mexico City, so any and all advice you can offer me would be appreciated. I'm trying to grab the feel for the city and placing it in the WOD.

1.- While indeed, Summer is strong in Mexico City, I would suggest you keep with the standard seasonal changes, as the weather in Mexico City can be cold.

2.- This is up to you.

3.- You could make that, perhaps, the pollution is that of a mixed blessing for the Lost: For one, it seems to deter the presence of the Gentry within the main parts of the City, but it might stick on changeling's skin when they perform fae magic, making them more noticeable to other changelings, or the other denizens of the World of Darkness.

Remember that the Lost are good at blending in mortal society, or even to pass off as other supernaturals, so you can easily play a simple Changeling chronicle without putting too much historical effort into it, but not neglecting it completely.

I'd make a good research on the ghost stories of Mexico City. And, if there are Gravewrights in the game, there's bound to be plenty of ghosts.

No Snowskin?  What if a Snowskin moved there from another city?
All I need is a warm bed, a kind word, and unlimited power.

1) I will be keeping the Seasonal Courts. I was considering changing them around, but decided against it. Maybe a little tweaking.

2) And to respond to BillionSix, something about Mexico City opposes snow, and a Snowskin who moved to Mexico City would gradually lose the snow. Not sure whether or not to replace it with something else.

3) That is what I was thinking, and is part of the motivation of the Autumn Court's king.

Ghosts - definitely going to incorporate them.

Another thing I was considering was the Roman Catholic mythos. (Just to clarify - mythos does not necessarily need to be fictional) Since Catholocism is a major influence in Mexican culture, even playing significant roles in its fairy tales, I will incorporate it. Which adds a sinister connotation to the Virgin of Guadelupe...

But any and all suggestions are welcome.

Low elevation and the Gulf of Mexico. Cold fronts don't stay long enough in the area, and even when it does, it usually has turned to rain by the time it reaches the ground.

So yeah, the area does oppose snow.

But I would let someone play a Snowskin if they want. After all there are plenty of mountains in the region that get plenty of snow. It would be like someone who lives in Tahoe being found in Reno. It's not hard to imagine.

Consider using Southern California. If pollution is key, you can't do better than the smog of Los Angeles. Plus, it allows you to explore Mexican themes in a place that might be more familiar, and therefore easier to manage.

Hi Fergurg, your chronicle sounds great. Have you picked up Shadow's of Mexico? Its a great resource, even if its Vampire/Werewolf focused. It has alot of useful cultural references to Mexico and Mexico City (DF), although it's Spanish should have been better edited (Im bilingual and the Spanish is very distracting). It also talks about Ghosts and Dia de Los Muertos.
