So in a DB game I've been running, a player is competing in the Heaven and Earth Invitational in Yu-Shan and has a good shot at being victorious. He said that, when the Unconquered Sun gave him a handshake, he wants his character to say, "This is a really nice place. Your boss, Pasiap, must be treating you pretty well. Anyway, put in a good word with him for me. Maybe if you're lucky he'll give you another promotion."

I admit, I liked the idea of the Unconquered Sun frowning and shooting Chejop a dirty look, and then Chejop just weakly lifting his arms in the air. "Err, sorry Ignis Divine. We've been training the Dragon Blooded wrong as sort of a joke. Ha ha. Sur...prise?"

I told him I figured that Dragon Blooded probably have a good idea about the order of the universe - they pry all know the Unconquered Sun is the leader of Heaven and Earth, but probably believe the Elemental Dragons have been given dominion over Creation.

Realistically, about how ignorant could a Dynast with 3 dots of Lore and 0 in Occult reasonably be about something like that? Ignorant enough to make every Bronze Faction Sidereal simultaniously groan and say, "Damn it, we should have trained them better!"

What the immaculate order teaches is pretty close to the truth on everything except the nature of celestial exaltation and where dragonblooded stand in the celestial hierarchy.

I think one of the 2e books actually suggests that the "your boss, Pasiap" thing is pretty close to the official Immaculate Order party line.

Occult 0 you say? So knows hardly anything about Gods? I look forward to his argument with Ignis Divine!

Immaculate Doctrine is not actually very clear in the books, but as far as I can tell, it works like this:
Heaven exists, and is run by the Incarnae. Gods are basically bureaucrats, looking after everything for Gaia and her children, the Immaculate Dragons, who are of course in charge of everything. The Five Great Elemental Dragons (the avatars of the Immaculate Dragons, who are unknowable cosmic concepts) don't actually turn up in Yu-Shan and order the Sun around however. Why would they stoop to the petty bureaucracy of Yu-Shan? They've got much more important things to do!
So a Dragonblood would believe that, yes, Ignis Divine works for Pasiap, etc, but probably not that he actually speaks to them, after all they don't speak (well, literally, obviously they do spiritually) to the Dragonblood, who are far more important than the Gods in the grand scheme of things. Dragonblood are the heroes of Creation, after all, whereas the Gods are just there to make things work properly, not rule or things like that.
I play a time-travelling Solar who used to be a sorcerer, but lost his power. I'm hoping soon I can lose my exaltation, raise the dead, and destroy exaltations too.

Lore and Occult ratings don't necessarily guage how much you know, they determine how much use you can make of what you do know.  For example, I could run a series where my players all deal with gods and elementals.  But that doesn't mean the Dawn asskicker ever has to get Occult 1 to know about stuff.  He could know about things, but just have no method of being able to apply that knowledge practically.

I think the description your player gave is pretty good.  Dragon-Blooded understand the world differently than it is.

This is more or less my thinking as well, though I'd define the Immaculate Dragons differently.  Under the doctrine of the Order, the Immaculate Dragons were literal Dragon Blooded who achieved absolute transcendent embodiment of the principles of the Five Elemental Dragons & thus became completely one with them - thus no distinction save historic.  Now you, do what they did.

Anyway, as the Wizard said, the Immaculate Order sees the True Elemental Dragons as transcendent universal divinities, so while they would place them above the Incarnae & thus be absolutely wrong, they would be unlikely to make the mistake of assuming that they literally bossed the Incarnae around & thus make an idiot out of themselves in Yu Shan.

It would cause the UCS to have to decide which virtues to supress. Depending on which ones it could be umm well OMG thermonuclear spear to the face to hmm need to go back to playing the Games of Divinity some more....

The Dragonblooded would be challenging UCS' divine authority, but in doing so the UCS would have to admit that Heaven isn't working and its his fault. So the UCS could either spear to the face and go on a divine rampage against the Immaculate order or go back to playing the games of divinity which ever works for your game:)

Considering Sol's epic Valor, I doubt he would let the faux pas go with just a dirty look at Chejop. He'd want to set the Dragon-Blood straight.

Fortunately for the Terrestrial in question, Sol's epic Compassion would mean this would take the form of a serious talk rather than a brutal beatdown. Or incineration.

Yea, I can't really see a problem for the DB coming from Sol.  Sol can TELL the guy himself isn't lying.  Lines spoken by a fool are not an insult from the fool, but rather from the ones that taught him, so no Valor issue.  Compassion would dictate he not bash him, temperance would agree, conviction would be driving him to correct the error.  So the worst would be a talk, or more likely ordering someone to educate the man properly.

And then he decides to re-educate the immaculate Order using the Mice of the Sun. ;)

The serious talk could lead to Sol learning things that will set off his epic Valor and epic Conviction. As I said it all depends on which virtues he supresses at that moment....

I was under the impression that the DB's know the UCS and the Maidens and so forth are "in charge", but that they view them as so distantly remote from Creation that there's just no point in trying to interact with them. So they have kind of a deist view of them - "Yeah, they're the super powerful gods, but they don't really do anything, they just are" - as opposed to the Dragons, who are awesome Buddha figures.

That's how I run my Creation, anyway.

Well yeah, they're in charge. They're in charge of making sure the sun and moon go along on time, on making sure the other Gods do their job (which they're obviously incompetent at), and so on.
They're not in charge of, well, people. That would be the Dragonblood, of course.

I'm pretty sure that the Immaculate Order represents UCS as the king of the gods. He might be kind of pissed otherwise.

Well of course, he's the King of the Gods. And only the Gods. He certainly shouldn't be doing anything like telling humans what to do: that's the DB's job!
