The 'sunlight is mystical' argument doesn't really say everything. If that were the case, a Vampire wouldn't be safe anywhere, not even inside. So what if the sun can't reach him there? It's mystical.

I'd say that completely covered skin+goggles should work - in theory.
In practice, there's the constant need for fear checks, and the fact that you'd have to force yourself to styay awake during the day.
That plus the risk of a crack in your supposedly impervious suit, as well as the fact that you'd look hella awkward while everyone else around is wearing a bikini...

If it were me, I'd have to have a pretty darn good reason to even consider an action such as this.

You know I just reread it and you are right. sorry :P   Man that sucks!  I have been running it wrong all this time!
Makes a good house rule, though.

Now, there is actually another Theban Sorcery ritual that could help in this situation, but since it's the extremely not-worth-it Martyr's Miracle from Requiem for Rome, it's probably not going to help anyone.

Though, honestly, why exactly did they make a ritual that you have to spend at least 105 experience points just to get to the right power level to use it, only to have it destroy you and give benefits similar to those of the non-self-destructive Damned's Day?
You know that Damned's Day needs a very long time to work and Martyr's Miracle works instantly?

OK, here are some ideas then; they might sound crazy, just hear me out...

1. Have his Ghoul get it
2. Dominate a mortal and have them get it
3. Make friends with a Werewolf and have him get it
4. Make friends with a more powerful Mage and have him cancel the spell

1. No Ghoul, plus the issue of getting into the area without Protean anyhoo.
2. Protean issue, you have move through solid rock to get to the room.
3. Protean issue, you have to move through solid rock. Wait... Do werewolves have a gift that can do that?
4. Unlikely there's anyone as powerful as a mage that can make a 5 dot Forces spell permanant in the city.

Use explosives to blast the rock, maybe? I refuse to believe that is completely imposible to enter the room without Protean.

To pass through something requires the devotion Yielding Soil (Immortal Sinners, pg. 126).

The 2 dot Elemental Gift, Manipulate Earth, can dig through stone, I believe.  Hmm ... just checked, it can only manipulate earth unless the werewolf scores an Exceptional Success.

Doesn't need to be as powerful, just need time to cast a ritual Dispel Magic spell.  Also, if it's surrounded by solid stone, a mage with Matter 3 ought to be able to retrieve the item for you.  Plasticity makes the stone as malleable as clay and Animate Object can be used to either open a hole or make a pseudopod of animate stone to just reach in and get the thing for you.

Of course, this depends on there being a mage who's willing to violate the protection of whoever put the thing there in the first place.

Aren't we all overlooking the obvious here? :)

Permanent beam of sunlight? Just bring a few sleepers there during the night ... I give it an hour tops before the sunlight goes *poof*. Disbelief rolls every 10 mins for even 1 sleeper and it would work quite quickly. Most sleepers have about 4 dice to roll against the potency of the spell.

Hope this helps.

Edit: nvm, apparently I didn't read the part where the area in question is underground and surrounded by concrete. But my idea could still work, you'd just have to get a permit and construction crew to excavate the chamber first :)

If its just a single beam of light, then what's stopping the vamp from simply covering up, using Resiliance or Celerity to run in, grab, and run out in two turns or so?   Fully covered, he'll still take 3 agg a turn, but if we limit the amount of exposure to a bare few turns, he can actually make the run with some discipline help.   Celerity will allow him to be in and out in minimal time, while Resiliace will give extra life, plus downgrade that first turn's worth of aggravated damge (allowing healing).

Coinicidentally that's exactly what he did. He died horribly since the artifact was apparently a trigger to create 3 more sources of sunlight.

So, he died because of an old-style D&D dickmove on the part of the ST? That sucks.

3 more sources of sunlight? So? Either there is sunlight or there isn't, you can't really have more sunlight than ... sunlight.

Sounds to me like the ST just wanted him dead, and if thats the case, not much a player can do.

I agree. It just sounds like the ST was being an ass, or wanted/needed the character dead for whatever reason.

I mean, you could have beams of sunlight in different areas (thus running into them being a new exposure) but the simple fact is, if a room is lit with sunlight, it wouldn't matter if there's more sunlight. There's sunlight or there isn't.
