The subject header pretty much says it all. I want other players to explain to me what they think motivates the King of the Gods.

It has always been kind of up in the air for me. He was designed for a specific purpose, but then the Games came along.
Many thanks to Bodhisattva for my Exalted Chibi!

You mean before the hierophanth betrayal, or now in the age of sorrow?

Before the betrayal I think it's his chosen and the continuity of Creation and probably the well being of other incarna.

But now? The games is all there is.

He I think now thinks mostly for the games, but protecting Creation and being Righteous is his default nature I believe.

ANd I prefer the title "Presdent of Heaven" myself.  Or the Administrator.  He feels much more like the head of a corperation or a federal government then a king, if you ask me.

And stuff.

Depends on the exact nature of the job that the Primordials designed him to fufill.

Sounds right.

No doubt, they'll give him a cleaner motivation in Glories of the Most High.

The Unconquered Suns job was to defend Creation. In general that ment he spent his time doing battle with the wyld and its beings. I'm sure at one point or another there may have been Primordials that hated the idea of Creation and tried to destroy it even possed the power to do so.

Since the creation of the Exalted he hasn't had to worry about doing his job since the Exalted are more than capable of doing the job. So long as there are Exalted around I think he feels that he doesn't have to worry about Creation being destroyed. Of course I could believe the Games of Divinity doing something like giving him an Urge to play the Games of Divinity on top of his motivation to defend Creation.

To do the absolute best in whatever he chooses to pursue.  While once this was holding back the Wyld and then it was administering his heavenly order, it now seems to be making the Sun shine in Yu-Shan...

What was his betrayal? I've heard mention of this before, but not sure what book has info on it, I imagine the box set has info on it but I don't have it.

There's a comic that alludes to the incident, but Dreams doesn't actually have anything else about it. One of Panther's memories from Caste Book: Zenith involves his time as Hierophant, when he and his fellows decided "Hey, we could use bigger mansions and shit," and told everyone the Unconquered Sun personally approved of their tax hike. This was a petty, petty lie, and was the shit-on-the-head that broke the camel's neck. The Unconquered Sun turned his face from his Chosen at that moment; the Hierophant even noticed, but he didn't care.
My danger sense is tingling. Also, my house is on fire.

To win a game that has no end and goes on forver, for if he loses he ceases to be perfect and unconquered.

How can he lose if the game doesn't end?

Because the never ending game is broken up in Matches.

The Betrayal of Hierophant is pretty much simply Speaking his [Unconquered Sun] name in vain - and none of the other solars (who all know it) opposed it.

It is a sign of the total corruption of Solars that the final straw is not some giant atrocity but some minor offense.

There's a hint in the Abyssals splat, under the Unholy Unwitting Pact flavor text:

"Even the Unconquered Sun, supposed shining paragon of virtue, could be bribed to forsake Creation for the bliss of eternal victory in the Games of Divinity."

There's another in the Sidereals splat, where it talks about a potential conflict between Saturn and the Unconquered Sun:

"According to the principles on which Creation is based, however, the Unconquered Sun must defeat every enemy, including death itself."

The Unconquered Sun's motivation, I think, is to conquer all.  He's conquered the Primordials.  He's conquered Heaven.  He's currently focused on the Games because he has yet to conquer them, and it's his Motivation to conquer everything.
