Ok so I have a random thought......

Can an abyssal be akuma'd?

If so how would that work?

Have I crossed the threshhold of craziness with this idea?

I don't remember where, but I think it talks about the Yozis making a deal with the Neverborn not to steal their dudes.  So no.  I don't think any Yozi would take an Abyssal, and I'm pretty sure there is some way that the Abyssal would wind up dead if they tried.

The assumption Neph and Holden had in Infernals and going into Alchemicals was that no exalted shard could be touched by more than one type of primordial essence (yozi, autochthon, gaia, and neverborn being the opperative types). This hasn't made an appearance in the rules yet, but it was hinted that it might show up in alchemicals with recycles.

The answer is... maybe? It isn't clear cut - they don't even mention Abyssals in the Akuma section.

I would imagine, a tentative yes, but it's very unlikely. The Yozi are freaking terrified of the Abyss, and stealing one of the Exalted souls from their cousins is not a good idea. Keep in mind that the Akuma will stull suffer from Resonance, which could have a pretty bad effect for the Yozi. What happens if the Abyssal Akuma suffers Resonance feedback and starts creating shadowlands in the middle of Malfeas?

If an Abyssal does become an Akuma, I imagine only the two Yozi who are particularly interested in the Underworld (Ebon Dragon and Oramus) would have any part of it. Even then I think they would be very, very fast to get the Abyssal the hell out of Malfeas and keep him too occupied to ever come back.

This.
