READ BEFORE POSTING ISSUES/QUESTIONS - Known Technical Issues and Wants

I've been unable to log on through the front page link for the past twenty four hours or so. It was happening sometimes before that, but seemed intermittent and generally if I tried back in an hour or two everything would be fine. This bout of the error page didn't seem to end.

Finally managed to load the forums by doing a google search for my own login name and some game terms, then loading the specific thread.

We just made some database setting changes that will alleviate one problem that was occuring (temp database storage was only growing by 1 Mb when needed and was locking the whole table when it did it)

We will be taking the forum offline on Friday morning to change some other settings, including bumping up the space allocation tenfold. This will alleviate the other occasional issue where it grows past it's current allocation and locks the whole table while it increments the allocated size.

We'll keep an eye on it past that and make any additional tweaks as necessary.

Another update.

We removed the "recent activity" box from the "Home" page of the community. The way the Community Server guys coded it was grossly inefficient and was causing mammoth timeouts and database locks. While it was nice to have that info displayed it was just way too inefficient and problematic. You should find that page loads WAY faster now and there is a the added plus of less load on the server meaning better performance overall. This combined with the changes we'll be making tomorrow morning should make a big difference.

  Every time I get an automatic notification of any sort from the forum I get anywhere from 3-9 emails saying the same thing.  Is that one of the things the outage tomorrow is hoping to fix?

I've heard reports from a few other people about that.

I assume it would be corrected once the forum server is restarted..

Any thread i am following  i get 4  notifications for. It is flooding my inbox, how do i fix this?Is anyone else having this problem?

I'll look into it again, but its likely the same issue that was brought up before about how the software tracks conversations as chains of posts rather than an entire thread.  If you use the 'email me replies to this post' checkbox, you will get an email every time someone replys to your specific post, or a child of it, ie even if its 6 posts up, if everyone is quoting you for their replies and use 'your' reply button, you'll get an email for every one of them.  Its best to use the link in the upper right for topics that says 'Email me when someone replies'.  I'll take a look at the mail queue though and double check its not doing anything strange

I am getting between 2 and 4 emails for each reply

I am also receiving multiple e-mails per reply.  Typically 2-4.
