Johnston says he lived with the Palin family from early December to the second week in January. He claims he heard the governor several times say how nice it would be to take advantage of the lucrative deals that were being offered, including a reality show and a book.
'Lucrative' deals
"I think the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars," said Johnston, who has had a strained relationship with the family but now says things have improved.

Palin has a book deal, but compensation details haven't been disclosed. The governor has said she is facing more than $500,000 in legal fees.

Money, it drives everything.

Yeah, I suspect we will see a bit of chaos that day.

Personally, I just hope I am on the right side of the planet and we have a clear sky so I can see the alignment (if we can see anything with our telescope - its a nice one but it may not be that nice - to see anything out of the ordinary at least).

Check this December 21st and you can see for yourself, it happens every year on the same day, not just 2012.

The whole "Planet X/ Mayan Calendar End of the Fifth world/ Terence McKenna Timewave" theory always reminds me of this.

I'm still pissed off about the Y2K apocalyptic no-show. :(

Even if there is absolutely nothing to the whole 2012 thing.... if....
People are still going to act stupid... and there will more than likely be large amounts of "mass suicides"...

2012 could end up being more of a self full filling prophecy... to a small extent...

There's a difference between "kids with handicaps are OK too" and saying "kids with handicaps > you".

But she doesn't believe in evolution, so I doubt Sarah can see the difference.

I have a friend with cerebral palsy and I'm glad his parents didn't abort.

That doesn't mean we shouldn't be doing everything we can to cure it so people don't have to live with it.

As well, I do think that parents should be conscious of when they're at high risk of having children with such problems (as Palin was when she had Trig) and consider either not doing it (esp. if you already had four kids) or adopting (since there's plenty of children, both handicapped and not, that need it).

And Palin didn't say (in this speech) that Trig or his condition were gifts from up on high. She said we need more people like Trig, referencing his condition and what she's learned from dealing with the challenges. Which is not a sentiment I can agree with.
