Holy Shit! This is everything Star Wars should be. If the game is HALF as good as the trailer, I'm sold.

The novel really did do a much better job with it all, and anyone disappointed in the movie really should check it out. Oh, and as for that opening, one of my favorite bits in the novel is that the author skips describing the comedic parts, by simply showing Dooku disgustedly watching Anakin and Obi-Wan "indulging in buffoonery" in the elevators...^^

Also, the lightsaber fights are much more impressive, from Anakin and Obi-Wan's hiding their true skills from Dooku, to Mace Windu's complete surrender to Vaapad when fighting Palpatine (unfortunately, we don't get Sidious' opinion; I always wondered if he was impressed!)...This is the same author who wrote the Mace Windu CW novel, so he spends a special amount of time getting into what the events here mean to him, which explains why he didn't wait for Yoda to get back before confronting Palps, like he should have done...

Yea. It was a great read. I need to read it again sometime. I also need to read that novel about Vader that takes place right after Episode 3...

What makes me most angry about Ani's fall in RotS is how it easily could have been so much better. The novelization has Ani walk around like a living corpse, ridden with guilt, fear and indecision for a full week before he finally mauls Mace and pledges himself to Palp. It was painful to read.

Oh yea! I forgot about that from the novel...

But yea, I wish they would have focused more on his fall in Revenge of the Sith. Hell, the opening sequence eats up like 30 minutes. It was cool, but still...

Or, if they made it real long, like 3 hours....it could have been so awesome. Really gotten into Anakins fall...which is what we were all there to see..

The downsides of the Jedi are also played up from Ani's perspective, making his choice that much easier to sympathize with (not to mention his later line about the Jedi being evil). And thing is, while the book was written by an EU author, it was based closely on the movie script and proof-read by the man himself. Meaning that it was how things were supposed to be, yet that douche GL decided to change it.

Of all the things to shorten because of a lack of time in that movie, it had to be the entire dang point of the film, and the PT itself, for that matter! What were you thinking George?!

I know what you mean. I mean, they only had a certain amount of time for the movie...but alittle more build up might have been nice. I mean, he was teetering close to the dark side anyway...but I can't imagine the second you turn you're up slaughting a room full of children.

I did use that scene to good effect in a star wars game tho. I had the players visiting the ruins of the temple, and they ended up in that room, and saw that scene take place, much like a haunting. Like it was so horrorable, an echo of it remained, and played itself out over and over...

The players loved it.

I don't know about that falls too hard too fast stuff- i know it was alot to swallow in the 3rd one but I was okay with me for the most part- I kinda just wish they would have shown him struggle with it a little better- I may be a bit bias cause I think the Jedi are mostly dicks- and once Anakin attacked Mace- it was over for him- whether Mace was right or wrong. They would have gone after him, Padme, ect. The kid slaughter should have been set up a little better- I am pretty hateful and vengeful when I get wronged- but I really can't imagine killing the whole temple of kids and stuff. The sand people- eh probably could get away with the sand people cause they kinda look like monsters- but it would have to be pretty ridiculous for me to kill a bunch of chubby little kids who look up to me? It was cool for shock value but in hindsight wasn't very clear what happened? I love my girlfriend- haha but I really don'y know if I could kill all those kids to maybe save her? Except that that's the exact *opposite* message of the movies! In the movies, acting rashly almost always is the wrong move, and only makes things worse. It's the calm, meditative way that prevails, and we see Luke (and to an extent, Anakin) mature through them into a much more disciplined, restrained being. I wonder if this is too counterintuitive for the writers of the series, so they've fallen into the "quick and easy" trap of writing Hollywood action clitches...

Good points. I hadn't even thought of that.

Tho, they could just be doing that to show how Anakin is always ruled by his emotions...which sometimes isn't a bad thing, but its what ultimatly leads him to the Dark Side.

I could mention, "Only a sith talks in absolutes," but I have an even better answer.

Lucas made this series because he (correctly) felt that Anakin was not sufficiently sympathetic in the prequels. He fell too hard, too fast, and nobody got a sense of the fact that he was a hero. This series is supposed to showcase his clone war heroics in order to sort of justify why the fall is so tragic. If you take the prequels by themselves, he's slaughtering "the women, and the children, too" as soon as you get to know him as an adult, so its not much surprise, nor is it heartbreaking when he becomes Vader.

Who saw the latest Clone Wars? I've always have a liking for Luminara and Barris, so it was nice to see them both here. Altho, *every* other appearance in other media has had Barris gain her Knighthood around the same time as Anakin, so it's odd seeing her still a Padawan here. Clearly, this team of master and apprentice is meant to contrast with Anakin and Ahsoka's team...which is exactly how The Approaching Storm novel contrasted their team with Obi-Wan and Anakin. Well, apart from that, I enjoyed it, esp that Ahsoka, thankfully, wasn't as out-of-line as she was in her previous ep with Luminara, and actually got along with Barris much better...

True. Lucas also said that Vader would have deposed Palpatine by Ep IV if he hadn't been ruined...as it was, Sidious was just biding his time till he could find a better replacement.
