... knowing that my girlfriend picked me up a copy of Geist a couple hours ago from a gaming shop in her area, about an hour or so away from where I'm at, that had copies out and on sale tonight but that I won't be seeing her or it until sometime tomorrow.

I promise, when the moment comes that I hold a copy of Geist in my hands at Gen Con I will take a moment to meditate on your pain in silent solitude.

Then I will squeal with glee and tear into it, hehe.

Appreciated. I also promise that once I've torn into the copy I'm getting I'll be willing to answer questions, etc., as much as possible since I hate when people say "I've got the book!" but decide to be tight-lipped about its contents.

I do have one spoiler bit that I got from her last night since I promised not to harass her with any lengthy/detailed questions since I'd have my hands on the book today and she not overly familiar with Geist and really on grabbed a copy because she knew I wanted it. So I went for something that of course raised my curiosity immediately - what was the ad in the back of the book for?

The answer I got:

A single sentence - "All Things Are Born Of Darkness"  - with white letters tilted so the right side of the sentence vanishes like the shadow is darker just 5 more inches back from the front of the page.

I did just read "Torture is... " "Appreciated", which was odd.

And I tried to preorder at Waterstones yesterday, but they threw up their hands, so I'll drop by Friday.

That, to me, screams Demon.  Is that the consensus?

Not at all. Darkness is a motif and staple of many many horrific beings.

I find that people tend to jump right to Demon fairly often...which I will say should suggest something to the writers. While I'm not one of them, there seems to be a bunch of people who want a demon game.

I agree though, darkness is an extremely prevalent theme. Especially in the World of Darkness.

Wait, so it has been released? Or have you just got an early (breaking the release date) copy?

Also, which country are you from? So I know whether to expect my copy on my doorstep in the next day or so.

Actually, to me what screamed it was more the "All things are Born of..".  It suggested that we are going to have a game that involved the cthonic times of creation, when all things began.  Whether the fallen Titans, the fallen Rebel Angels, or perhaps lovecraftian un-things, the Demons could easily be remnants of a time before there was any light at all.

I live about an hour north of Atlanta, GA in the US so I'm close enough to WW that I can usually make it to a FLGS around or before the release date and pick up a copy of any of their new books.

My girlfriend happened to stumble across a few copies in store and grabbed one of the last two there (a mutual friend grabbed the other one). Apparently they had been out on the shelf for at least a full day or so already.

Since WW is premiering the game at GenCon this week I'm guessing I got lucky and just got a copy that was out before the release date for the general public, whatever that date maybe.

Breaking a release date isn't exactly a capital offense, even in Georgia. :)

It can be viewed as such to those of us who aren't in a place where that happens.
