Has anyone used a Kindle or other ebook reader to look at the SAS / AP products or PDF copies of rulebooks?

Any reviews of them? I'm interested in getting one, but would like to hear if others have found them effective for use around the gaming table?

this is something I've been wondering myself.  it would make gaming so much easier having all the books in one place. instead of dragging 30 books to the table with me.

I use Adobe Acrobat myself for all my PDFs.  SASes tend to read easier on them than cores and supplements, since they're laid out in landscape (meaning the whole page fits onto your screen without the need for scrolling through).  Acrobat's not a free program, but their Acrobat Reader (without all the fancy editing and bookmarking capabilities) is.

This is just an alt.

Don't think that there are many other decent readers out there for PDFs than Acrobat... what with Adobe being the creators of the format!

I use Foxit Reader on my EeePC because its slick and compact - unlike the bloated Acrobat Reader.  Sometimes the original isn't necessarily the best.

As far as the Kindle goes, the publisher of the book in question needs to publish Kindle ready versions.  It will not read just any old PDF (at least the Kindle 1 will not, maybe the newer Kindle 2 is different).

i have the sony e-reader.

its not too bad for SAS's but it is a bit slow to render ww products in general due to the way the formatting is layered, if the backgrounds were flattened as one image it wouldnt be so bad, but its a common problem on all e-readers with most of them having such small processing power.

I believe the OP means physical readers, such as this:Kindle Reader

The tech reviews on the Foxit eslick haven't been particularly favorable.  Compared to both Sony and Amazon's offerings it is lacking some features (wireless connectivity being a major one.)  If you must get an e-reader the Kindle DX is still the best option feature-wise.  Native pdf support is a big deal for anyone that wants to use DTRPG, and the DX has it, plus it's layout and presentation are better than the cheaper Foxit (to be fair it is a lot more expensive.

I toyed with the idea of getting an e-reader before I got my netbook, the Kindle DX looked really nice (and will look better in color when they finally make one available) but I just couldn't justify the cost.
