All Good Things....R.I.P Michael Dracon

Hello everyone, it is with great sadness that I have to report that we have lost one of our own.

Yesterday there was a post in the Moderator forum, that I will repost here:

Dear White Wolf Forum,

As you probably have noticed by now, Michael has not been online much. It pains me to tell you that he will not be coming online ever again.

On the 25th of august 2009 my brother, Michael, choose to end his life on his own terms. Regretfully, terms we will never know. On the 9th of September, his friends and family held a ceremony in his honour.

Since I probably already scared the living daylights out all of you, I will refrain from posting the means by which he choose to end his life. Although I suspect that some of you will not believe what I have posted here, I am unable to link a scan of the obituary notice to these forums. Therefore, I would like to propose the following.

Michael lived for Fantasy and White Wolf was a big part of his life. It took me a month to post here, but I feel a debt to White Wolf for all the fun I and our mutual friends had in Michael’s Fantasy worlds. His last epic quest line, nearing an end after almost two years, will never be finished. Since I do not want you to experience the same as we do, a sudden end of a story, I will answer all of your questions posted in this thread. Two weeks from now, after I return from a well earned vacation, I will try to answer all your questions to the best of my ability. If you feel the need to ask me personal questions, not suited to be posted on this forum or you want to see the obituary notice, simply because you do not believe me (I do not blame you), I will give you my personal Email address at the end of this post.

Again, I am sorry for posting this here, I felt a need to share this with you, since you also have been a big part of Michael’s life.

I was asked to make a few edits, including removing the email address. But I was given premission to repost the message, as I thought you would want to know.

Michael was a great guy, and we spoke often. He became a Mod at the same time I did, and I always thought he was the much better choice. He did an awesome job, and he brought alot to community. He was a great friend, and it was an honor to know him.

I hardly knew Michael...

but from what little I saw him post, he was a good person...

that sucks, i always enjoyed conversing with him on the forums.

He was always very cool with me. Hell, years ago over at SnE he won the "MrGone" contest, and the grand prize was a custom sheet made by me. So he wanted a VtR sheet made to his exact specs. Maybe I'll post that up in his Honor...

Wow, just wow.

I know what its like to lose someone in this way and feel very strongly for his family. Its really hard to express what it's like when you lose such a present part of your life. When you lose someone that close, especially in such a manner, it feels like some intrinsic part of you has been taken away. You'll never get it back, but you eventually learn to cope and get back to living. I'm back to full functionality, but there are still moments when all I can think about is the big whole my sister left and I'm sure the experience will be similar for them.

Thank you for re-posting this, Mr Gone. I would not have known otherwise. It is unfortunate that he did choose to end his life, but I respect that decision as painful as it must have been for everyone involved.

May all beings be happy and free.

I am at a loss for words myself.  My deepest sympathies to his friends, family, and to all that knew him.  :(

This comes as a big surprise here on an early Saturday morning.... RIP, Michael.

This is sad, I liked Michael. He was someone I could practice my Dutch with.

 There's a joke here somewhere, but I'm not going to be the first to make one.

I had thought that, much as I do, he just vanished from the forums for awhile...

My condolences to anyone who knew him better/more directly than I did, and certainly to his family; it must have been difficult for his brother to post this, but we are all no doubt grateful that he did, just to let us all know that something had happened...
