Condolence to the family and friends of Michael...
Personally, I don't know this guy, but i felt sad whenever I hear people pass away...

May his love ones be able to moved on...

I feel the same way, Gary. Every time I think about Michael I feel a pain in my heart. To know that what he was going through was so painful that he chose to end his life. Although I did not know him very well, I feel for that kind of tremendous suffering. I think any of us who has been through such horrible pain that taking your own life appears to be a valid option can empathize with that. I think it's an incredibly precious gift that we can relate to other human beings this way. It encourages us to cultivate compassion and wisdom for the sake of ourselves but, more importantly, for others.

Didn't really like the guy based on what little I knew about him, disagreed with him about a great many really, really unimportant things , but this is .. wow. Condolences to the family. Peace be with him.

I hardly knew Michael, we never exchanged more than some niceties. I seem to recollect a couple of pictures he posted about his mage deck cards he was proud of.

Condoleances to his family, I have no idea how hard it must be to be frustrated like that when it comes to one you love.

Actually the first reaction was anger. I think it's just the shock, but it seems so selfish to end your life when you have loved ones around you, that the first reaction was to rant at him right away. On the one hand. On the other hand, some seconds after reading this, I thought that the pain must have left him with no other choice. So it wasn't really him doing that to himself, but something killing him. Which still fills me with anger at the way of things.

So, Michael Dracon has gone on a quest for Gigax. I'm sure he's having no difficulty in finding his way to Gary.

The first thing that springs to mind is why a person on that path would accept a modship. Or how a person on that path could behave in a manner so proper as to be asked to be a mod. I mean, you gotta be Gone caliber for that sort of thing. Always posting, never inflammatory etc etc. And such a person decides to kill themselves?

Seems awfully strange. How do I go about getting the hidden inside info when I'm a regular user?


Also, losing a mod is decidedly not what this forum needs. So I can sincerely say I will miss him, even if I hardly ever talked to him or saw him (except when ratting out use terms violators, but that doesn't count).

Back in 2004, Shadownessence ran several contests, and one of them was the MrGone contest. It was basically a raffle, and the winner got a custom sheet made my me. Michael Dracon won, and asked me to design a special VtR sheet for him, made to his own specs. It took several days, but I got the sheets made for him. So, I thought in his honor I would post these up. Bear in mind, these were made in 2004, before I had totally perfected the look on of VtR sheets. But, I thought y'all would like to take a look. These have never been posted before, since were made specially for him.

You know, though, it was really good of his family to let people know. One of the things that scares me a little bit about having friends online is that one day something'll happen to one of them and you just never find out...

While I don't know Micheal well. I do wish his family well and they have my deepest sympathy. I hope that you take some measure of relief in the fact that he is in a better place. Life is all about enjoying the time that you have with someone. Rest in peace and safe journey.
