I'm running my first game of Scion, and 2 of my players went for Egyptian heroes.

I'm find though that the Egyptian pantheon has a very limited range of 'lesser beings'.  The greeks have amazons, nymphs, satyrs... tons of stuff to use.  The Egyptians have only one major titan that directly opposes them (and he is problematic himself)* - and his servants are not appropriate for low level games.

I'm trying to come up with messengers, minions, and big bads that would be appropriate to put to a little Egyptian feel into the game.  In other words, fantastical entities that serve the Egyptian gods as well as those that oppose them.

The only "Egyptian" enemy in the game (other than Aten and buds) is the mummy - but that's more b-movie Egyptian than mythologically Egyptian.

* One of the members of my group is a devout Catholic.  I haven't gauged her feelings on the whole "monotheistic god as a major antagonist" thing yet.  I don't think he's off limits - but I have to be conscientious in how I present him and his minions.

Actually, a number of the other Greater Titans have Avatars that are derived from Egyptian mythology. Shu, and Meretseger come from Eqyptian Mythology.

You can easily stat up Apophos as an Avatar.  His only special trick is that accordingt o the myth, Set and Horus kill him every night. Thus I would say that he cannot be truly slain if he is killed in an Underworld.

As an Avatar, he can be the darkness of the depths that swallows the light. After escaping his prison in the Egyptian underworld, he can be found in a river that flows throughout Suko-No-Kumi. All that fall into the waters are pulled to the bottom and drowned.

Do talk to said player.

OK, The Egyptians have several Titans, really. Notworthy is Nu (from the Drowned Road) Shu (from Ek-uh, the air titan) Meretseger (from Musphelheim) and of course Mut/Gaia.

None of these are the big one, though: Apep/Apophis

Minions

Nagaraja are potent Minions which can be scaled down. Take the critter and cut it to the legend you need, lowering stats as needed. You can make them serpents of Apep by either taking the template away completely or give a different Template, but for Hero I say different Template.

Lesser Phoenixes will be good later, but not just yet.

Glance at Theriothropes in Demigod. Going with Apep, you can make wereserpents who serve Apep. For extra fun, mix them with normal cultists.

As you note, Mummified Undead can work as foes and allies. Take something like, say, Myrmidons, only make them Undead (give traits/abilities like Hungry Dead, but use stats like Soldiers). We still call em 4-Jars from playing Mummy, but they work as fodder pretty good.

For Apep cultists too take the Onmyoji (sp?) stats from Demigod for magic weilding cultists. They are wussy even compared to the magic purview but have a trick. Mix and match with weresnakes.

Edit: Curse you Sparketh. :)

Nut is given as a Titan and Geb's lost love.  A night Titan may have Vampires you could customize as her servents, or Suko-No-Kumi type critters.

AKA the Flame Snakes of Duat!

The Egyptian Underworld has scads of weird critters, such as a giant snake with six human heads sprouting from its back. They guard the gates between the various sectors of the Underworld. Ra passes them each night because his protectors know the passwords, but they need to stay on guard. If any of them escaped into the World, they'd be pretty bad: high-end Heroic foes at least (comparable to Tecuhtli in Scion: Hero); maybe even high-end Demigod, and the challenge is to find the password that makes them go back to their job in the Underworld. Collectively, these creatures are called Sebau, from their most powerful exemplar, Seba. Judging from the Egyptian passing-the-Underworld books, each sebau has a unique appearance, so just splice together a few bizarro reptilian monsters. Make a tmplate you can give a few custom powers, and you're good to go.

Magic animals are another option. Frex, there's an Egyptian story about a magician who finds that his wife is cheating on him. He molds a model cocodile out of wax, writes magic words on it, and it comes to life as a more-than-full-sized crocodile to eat his wife and her lover.

some of that sitting around from your research on Clanbook: Followers of Set? I blame that book for making me disappointed Tawaret was not stated in Scion. ;)

If you need another enemy, how about this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Septu

Could be a servant of Aten or, as a warlike aspect of the sun's heat, another avatar of Vritra, a long term enemy to put them up against. If you're not a fan of mummies, the animated husks of traders, nomads and soldiers who died in the desert might be more interesting (while having the same stats so less work for you there).

For minions, the pantheon has no shortage of animal headed gods so their servants and guards are probably similar. If they're a scion of Bast, add in some cat headed women or jackal headed priests for Anubis etc. Nemean scarabs, scorpions and snakes make good monsters. If you want a monster that is more unusual, try a manticore. They're technically persian but a man-lion-scorpion thing doesn't look out of place in Egypt either.

I didn't realize that those titans were associated with the Egyptians.  Looking at shu again he does have a very Egyptian look to him.  That helps immensely.  Hopefully someday the players will learn to fear the mighty war peacocks of shu. ;)

I'm not too confident in modifying creatures.  It's hard to gauge what makes for an appropriate adversary.

Each of the titan avatar has the symbol behind them of the pantheon they represent.

It's easiest to customize them to your groups. I run two groups, same level of legend, and I vary what I throw at them based on what the Scions can do.

Yup. And the Akhu chapter from Blood Sacrifice.

In my research, I've encountered mentions of "bau," which seem to be emanations from deities: doubles who look like the deity and work his will, but aren't as powerful.

Then there are animal mummies. The sacred animals kept at temples were mummified, since they were believed to have been earthly avatars of the deity. Some temples had thousands of these mummies (cats at a tmple of Bastet, ibises at a temple of Thoth), because (IIRC) you could pay to have an animal mummified as a devotional act (one more body preserved for the god's use, I guess).

If you go beyond actual religion, myth and magic, hybrid mummies make great minions for Titans and their cults. In degenerate ages, fallen priests stitched together human and animal parts to create blasphemous imitations of the Gods and performed other loathesome experiments that desecrated the dead. See "Imprisoned with the Pharaohs," by H. P. Lovecraft and Harry Houdini.

You can get away with a good bit just by picking something out of the book and "turning it Egyptian".

A ba (singular of bau) is a fragment of the greater self, the seat of intellect and reason.  It's often represented as a human-headed bird.  Functionally, I'd say it's no different than a ghost.  You could do the same thing with the khaibit (the shadow; think of it as the Freudian id) using spectre stats, heavy on the Rapacity and Malice.

There's also the serpopard ("sedja" or "sta"), I believe it's statted out in God.  Another critter is the "axex", like a griffin but with a more canine body (and the griffin stats are conveniently available in God as well).  The apis-bull could use the stats of Taureau-Trois-Graines.  If I think of others, I'll toss 'em out here.

Don't underestimate the power of the Mummy or other suitable Undead as adversaries. You can vary it from Cheny's shambler to Vozloo's super-villian level mummy.

At risk of Necroing (again) I was thinking of having Hatshepsut show up for an upcoiming story as a Scion. I am not positive on parent but thinking Atum-Re. Does this make sense to y'all?

Serpopards and Griffins were also common durring ancient eygptian mythology. As for what you said Baron, as a former pharoah Atum-Re sounds like an only option except possibly Horus.
