I believe that 20 sessions of horrible sadness doesn't make up for one session of redemption, that was really my point.

If it doesn't, then why would you even bother? That's too depressing to contemplate.

I have never found Promethean depressing. I have found it cathartic, and that's a very different emotion.

My bad their was another dude over you with a C name, and even then it was something he said in another thread about the game being about hope.  I believe that 20 sessions of horrible sadness doesn't make up for one session of redemption, that was really my point.

Ah gotcha. Yeah, I think the game has all the makings of a cool adventure, especially if there are giant man-swallowing whales :) Just kidding.

Of course you can have little victories inside of the sadness, but you live in a perpetual state of trial and error.  At it's core the game is about hope, but just because something is about hope doesn't make it not sad.  If you run your games as if they're in a good place, that's fine, but I don't, all their victories are laced with poison until one day they have an epiphany and reach their goal, and at that moment your suffering pays off.

I agree that promethan is carthartic... but that doesn't mean it's not an extremely sad trip down a long road of horrible events.  Zombieland to me is an example of a movie that took a depressing subject matter and managed to put an optimistic spin on it.  In general they lived in a horrible state of existence, same goes for promethan.  In a way it's proof you can live in hell but have fun stories.

Though Some may call thee mighty and dreadful
For thou art not so...
