Well, we used to ask this sort of mindless question frequently on the old forums, and while it may strike some as frivolous, I feel it may build community in a vein more friendly than "here's why your right/wrong." I'm going for social diversion here, so let's keep it light.

Recognizing that a Changeling doesn't choose their Durance, I've taken leeway in "stereotyping" myself, to consider in which "stories" a True Fae might feel I was destined to take part. Here's what I've come up with for each of the Seemings: As a Wizened, I'd almost certainly become a Chatelaine; I'm just too accommodating for the Gentry to pass up for a "yes-man."

Despite some gluttonous tendencies, I'd probably end up a Farwalker, not that I'm a natural outdoorsman, but if I were to become an Ogre and escape, it would be by simply walking away for a long, long time. Or, as one of the Fairest (certainly less likely than other Seemings), I'd probably become a Flamesiren or Bright One (my passion and beauty comes from deep within).

I love trees, so I'd be a Woodblood elemental if my natural tendencies were followed. More likely, though, I'd become Sandharrowed or Earthbones out of some spiteful Other's sense of humour--as one who lives in a desert somewhat against his will, I have an aversion for bare earth.

A Keeper might value my propensity for learning and make me an Antiquarian as a Darkling, or I might make a good Whisperwisp, given my skill in talking with others and my facility for keeping secrets.

Ultimately, though, if I were chosen for my most notable traits, I believe I'd end up as an avian Beast, more Cleareyes than Windwing.

In a Freehold ruled by the Seasonal Courts, I'd join the Winter Court, but I'd join the Court of the Day in a slavic-influenced Freehold, and I'd leave the Winter Court for the Sun Court were I ever to become aware of its existence. In any event, I'd pity courtiers of the Courts of Summer, Dusk, Moon or the North, and I'd mistrust (loathe?) Autumn, the Dawn Court, the East and the South.

I'm sure that I would maintain high Clarity.

How about you?

I think I might have ended up one of those changelings that is revealed to be an earthbound Gentry at endgame.  If not, I'd have a little more diverse choices.. I liked the approach of picking multiple seemings, so I'll continue that.

Of all the seemings, Wizened and Fairest are most likely.  When I work with others, I tend to be a charmer, a leader, and someone pretty to look at.  Even still, for a Fairest, I'd have the low self-esteem issues that many of them suffer from--I have it now, I doubt additional Presence would make it any better due to fears of rejection and not being good-enough for my even more judgmental keeper.  As a Fairest, I would definately be a Muse--It's my job to help people along with their ideas, to give twists to old ones and to come up with fresh ways of coming up with new ones.  It's what I do as a human, so I'd figure it would be expanded upon as a Changeling.  That being said, I am pretty sure I'd end up a dual-kith, with Draconic or Flowering added--I see my Fairest as a wild fellow, ever on the edge of seventeen, the raunchy and naughty boy you shouldn't want.

The Wizened would fit as well--SOme gentry would want to put me in my place.  Others might see no use for my real-life nature and instead choose to remake me into something menial.  I see myself as a Woodwalker, Oracle, or even a Chatelaine.  I might be the visonary or valet of some elegant and powerful elven noble, or perhaps living in the wilderness worshipping some great Mother Tree gentry who is too distant to harm or help any of her captives.  My bitterness would come out as rebellious angst and sarcastic jokes and constant "well, I think you could improve if you did this.."

If I were an Elemental, I see my Keeper seeing the spark inside of me.  Though I would not be a typical Fireheart or Levinquick, I see myself as such.  I would be the spirit of a constellation, of quantum energy, or perhaps of the starry space or light.  As that kind of exotic elemental, I might need to back it up with a dual kith--Bright One or Telluric make the most sense.  I could see myself as a handful of pinpoints of bright like connected with near-invisible energy meridians.  As a Quantum or Light elemental, I see myself as a glowing figure, a golden version of Doctor Manhattan.  I'd have that kind of attitude regardless--I know more about the molecular depths and the laws of the world than I would about a person.

If I were a Beast, I would have a pretty unique an non-earthly animal, some sort of fusion between mokey, goat, frog, fox, and other clever and fun-loving creatures.  I'd likely be a Steepscrambler/Riddleheart dual kith.  I'd be curious playful, and fond of hide-and-go-seek.I'd spend a lot of time on perches too high for someone to hurt me, and would be good at slipping away from bad situations.

Except for my Elemental shape, I'd look mostly the same regardless of seeming.  I would have untamed golden yellow hair, the same color as my trim physique and my digitigrade legs.  I'd be covered in soft curly golden fur on the mid chest, happy trail, forearms, and legs.  I'd have a long, leonide golden tail, perhaps with cute strips.  My whole body glows softly, especially my honey-fire colored eyes.

As for Courts, I'd preer to be of the Twilight Court--The in-between "Solstice Court" of the Day and Night cycle.  If I were stuck in a seasonal Freehold, Spring would be my bag--The twist of moral and amoral, of caring and selfish, of pleasure and purity.  I'd have too much fun in the Spring Court to chose any other, though the Autumn Court would have Goodwill with me, due to my intellect and occult wit.

Of the two, I would probably focus on Wyrd versus Clarity.  I wouldn't care all that much if my sanity was slipping away, or if people thought I was becoming too Fae.  If the worst came to worst and they considered me a loyalist, or worse a Wannabe, I'd just escape to the Hedge and wait for my Wyrd to accumulate until I went back home (Where I would promtly make a nice meal out of my Keeper).

My contracts would be Vainglory, Fang and Talon (Very Clever Beasts), and Hearth (Plus a Court Contract, like Eternal Day or Fleeting Spring).

I would be Inspiring, and might have a small amount of Striking Looks left over from my mortal days (Even as a Wizened).

And I'd make even more baby cannibal jokes then than I do now as a human, which might disturb some of the good fairies.. heh heh.
Life itself is only a vision.. a dream.. nothing exists, save empty space and you.. and you.. are but a thought..

If I were chosen based on my own qualities, I can imagine several possibilities.

A Darkling would be fairly appropriate.  I suffer from insomnia, and tend to feel like I take a -1 penalty to actions during the light of day as it is.  Being a Darkling actually wouldn't necessarily be much of a change.  I also suffer from bipolar disorder, so I could probably say the same for the Moonborn kith.  An Antiquarian would be fairly appropriate, since I'm quite the bibliophile and have collected a rather large library over the years.  I'm also a fount of (mostly useless) knowledge and trivia -- assuming I'm not currently suffering from tip-of-the-tongue-itis.

A Wizened would also be a good fit, though I don't think I'm unattractive and more personable than the Seeming's curse would indicate.  I'm a computer person, love gadgets, and fairly handy with tools, so a Smith probably wouldn't be inappropriate.  However, since I generally work in web design have have a bit of a creative streak, an Artist wouldn't be out of the question.  I used to enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, and other outdoor activities, so a Woodwalker would also work, though I haven't really done much of that in the last couple of years.

As I said, I love gadgets, and have a fondness for steampunk, so I wouldn't mind being a Manikin Elemental of the clockwork or steam-driven variety.

While (as I mentioned before) I consider myself not unattractive and fairly personable, I can't really imagine I'd be a good choice for a Fairest, except perhaps a Draconic.  I don't think I'm really haughty, but I am somewhat burly.

On the other hand, while I am somewhat solidly built, I don't think I'd make a very good Ogre, either, since I think my mind is my most defining aspect.  I can't think of any Ogre kith that I think would be a comfortable fit.

As for a Beast... well, that's a fairly open Seeming, isn't it?  I think everyone could pick an animal or certain animalistic traits with which they could identify or that describe them in some way.  I think I'm probably fairly bear-like from a certain perspective -- big and cuddly, slow to rouse and mostly wishing to be left alone, but ferocious if angered or if my loved ones are threatened.  I don't personally have a particular affinity for bears or any other specific animal, though, so I think I'd most likely be of a non-specific affinity, perhaps like the eponymous Beast from Beauty and the Beast.  The Chimeric kith would therefore be a good fit, especially considering my motley of friends.

As for a Courts, I'd almost certainly be courtless, since I'm something of an individualist and anarchist.  I can imagine having some Court Goodwill with both Spring and Autumn, since there are certain aspects of those two Courts with which I can empathize.

Well, if we're being fanciful, I hope you will grant me a moment of egotism.

Draconic - Fairest. I consider myself a reasonably attractive fellow, with a somewhat volatile temper. I've a talent for brawling, even though I've never been a dedicated student of martial arts. In game terms, I put myself at 1 dot of Brawl, no fighting style, and only the kith blessing giving me any real advantage in a real fight.

I almost went with the artist kith (since that would be obvious) but that doesn't ring true. I don't like to shy away from social situations (and that generally means Wizened is out), and I love arriving at a party and seeing new and old faces. I'm excitable, love to tell a good story, but have little need of social refinement. I like having a somewhat rockstar-ish persona (you know except for the fact that I don't play an instrument) because it means that the only thing I need to concern myself with at a party is whether people are having a good time. My status (whatever it is) is secured by my own actions.

That to me says Fairest. Thing is, I can't do the finer points of social manipulation. I find it distasteful and rude when you are supposed to be around friends and I will only party with people I like. I don't like you? I'm gone. Sure, this could mean I was a particularly well socialized ogre, but I'm just not big enough for that. So has to be a kith that wasn't overly "pretty" or "sexy" in nature. That meant draconic, pure animal magnetism, take shit from no one. Come and eat at my table, join me, but don't expect me to take your shit with a grin.

Court? Court of the South definitely, with aspirations towards the Court of Dawn. Former punk, former raver, and artist. That to me spells Court of the South. Summer? I hate the beach. Spring? Get serious. Desire is great, but it's an impotent feeling unless you have the balls to follow it fully. Besides, if you're using desire against the desirer, that's just wrong and twisted. You could break someone's heart that way. You remember how that felt? You really wanna put someone through that on purpose? Then I spit on you, cause you are what's wrong with the world (so see, Spring Court is out). That's right, I spit on you, what are you gonna do about it? Nothing. Know why? Because Awesome is the true way and I wanna take you on the path of ecstasy. Get up and dance or lie back and bliss out, let the awesome wash over you and experience its holy presence.

You feel that? That's the awesome.

As for Clarity...no I think I proved that's not a big concern for me. 6 at best.

Despite any negative

I think I would be a beast truefriend (rabbit) courtless, because my one gift is helping others, yet I'm jumpy and very introverted for a guy. also I never seem to fit in any certain mold.

Given the choice, I'd be an Ogre, probably Cyclopean. That said, I have a strong suspicion that I'd end up Wizened; either an Author or a Brewer.

Just about the only beast I can see myself being is a Broadback, though being a Skitterskulk would be unquestionably awesome. If I was elemental, I'd either be Snowskin or Metalflesh.

Can't see myself ever being a Darkling, really. I mean, I've got nothing against night, but it's not something I think I'd ever be a part of. That said, I'd love to be a Lurkglider, but I'd almost certainly be Moonborn instead. Definitely wouldn't be Fairest, but if, by some bizarre coincidence I ended up as one, I'd probably be Telluric.

Given the choice of courts, I'd likely been torn between Spring and Autumn. I mean, Autumn has a better defense system and methodology, but all that rampant hedonism...

Pretty sure that clarity would be an issue for me, whatever I ended up as.

Frivolous or not, I find these sorts of threads terribly fun and intriguing, so I'll happily chime in.  Unfortunately, I don't have my books on-hand, so this is pretty much flying on pure memory at the moment, and is based on the most prominent kiths that I remember...

If I were to presume that I'd end up a Changeling that drew upon my personal traits and nature, rather than some random Durance that may result in anything...hmm...

As a Beast, I'd most likely be some kind of Hunterheart, though something distinctly slinky and the sort of stealthy predator type.  My friends always equate me to either a cat or a fox, something that skulks about in shadows and comes up silently upon its prey, since I'm prone to suddenly and silently vanishing from view and coming up behind people without warning.  Of course, in some respects I'm more like a house cat, easily tempted by shiny, noisy objects or a dose of catnip, but even the tamest house cat still thinks like a predator, so Hunterheart fits.

As an Elemental, I'd probably be a Manikin, something more along the lines of a fancy Victorian doll with a pretty porcelain face and a ragdoll body...I'm one of those types who spent a lot of my life being treated like a doll, both feeling like a plaything and like one of those fancy dolls one keeps very carefully shelved or wrapped up in cotton wool and tucked away to keep the real world from damaging me, so I think the analogy is apt.

As a Fairest, I'd likely be a Muse if only for my artistic inclinations.  I imagine myself as some sort of fanciful thing, colors swirling everywhere in the vein of Delirium from Sandman.  Little haphazard bits of things that catch the eye, a flicker of pattern that distracts one's attention, a turn of a phrase that spins into an unintentional poem...just a natural extension of my own tendencies to be caught by intriguing sights or sounds.

As a Darkling, I picture myself as an Antiquarian.  I'm very much the nose-in-a-book type, easily caught up in a story or looking for that one intriguing bit of information, so I could very easily see myself being turned into someone's storyteller or researcher, forced to find those rare, barely heard stories or that inscrutable bit of information tucked in the far corners of some ancient library.

As a Wizened, I'd definitely be an Oracle--some sort of strange gypsy-like figure once kept to foretell my Keeper's path in some battle against another of the Gentry, perhaps.  I've been known to creep people out when I read their cards for them, to the point where a school-mate once actually ran out of the room in fright before I finished.  I'd probably be the one to constantly predict the worst things, perhaps even deliberately doing so to my Keeper until it cast me out in sheer frustration.

Lastly, as an Ogre...I suppose I'd be a Water-Dweller over any of the others, but something like a Kelpie or similar type of creature.  One of those sorts of tricky, treacherous, sometimes downright malicious water-creatures that thrives on playing pranks that can turn ugly.  I'm definitely that vindictive at times, so doing something like tricking someone into a near-drowning wouldn't be too far beyond my inclinations at my most malevolent.

As for courts...I'd most likely be Summer Court simply because I'm prone to vindictive rages and long, slow-burning hatred against those who wrong me; the Court of Wrath would be the place to let me indulge in such things.  However, I could see my Ogre persona being more inclined to Autumn, and possibly my Wizened persona; both seem more likely to thrive on the sort of fear that their actions can induce than in actually actively venting their fury on a proper target.

I could probably find a lot more concepts that would work, but these were the first that really occurred to me.

Hmmm... Interesting reads, these descriptions of our real personas turned Changelings. Okay, I'm game...

As a Beast, I see myself most clearly as a Broadback, seeing how I'm physically built tall and wide (both by shoulder and belly, unfortunately). As to what I'd look like... well, there's some room for debate. Being headstrong and stubborn, I'd probably make a good oxen-like Broadback, harnessed to drag heavy loads, hair covering me from head to toe, my neck and shoulders scarred and muscular, my head bearing a bovine resemblance with a set of large, grey horns. Or perhaps an ursine Broadback, regarding the respect ancient Finns had for the strength and supposed wisdom of the great bear. I've also been called teddybear-like, so my bear Broadback might have more resemblance to a child's teddybear than an actual bear.

A Darkling would be a seeming right up my alley, as I tend to be somewhat nocturnal and actually dislike sunlight to a degree (part of which stems from the fact of being so pale that I simply burn without tanning at all). Academically bent, however, I'd see myself most likely as an Antiquarian, a bearded sage dusting himself off whenever someone breaks his concentration to the latest book in his collection.

As an Elemental, I would see myself most likely as an Earthbones, unmoveable and stubborn like the grey granite that has become my flesh and bones. I would probably be clumsy as hell and constantly worried that my increased bulk will make me inadvertently break things just by leaning on them or sitting on them. Or as a lover of nature, I might be a woodblood, my flesh hard and knobby like a juniper.

The Fairest... in all honesty, I simply cannot see myself as one. I like to create but don't inspire like a Muse, I prefer woodlands to gardens so there goes the Flowering, nor am I particularly radiant or awe-inspiring. I might see myself as a Telluric with an association for the Moon, a silver-skinned stargazer and daydreamer.

As an Ogre, I would most likely see myself as a Gargantuan brute, increased in strength and size to haul heavy burdens and carry great weights on broad shoulders.

And the Wizened: definitely an Artist, a hermit doodling and drawing fantastic vistas and unnatural beings, driven by the urge to 'capture' the maddening sights of Arcadia with pen and paper, with brush and paint - and perhaps, in a way, contain them from spilling out into the real world. Most likely I'd be pretty low on Clarity, though...

Court-wise... Can't say no to the hedonistic urges of the Spring Court, though the scholar in me also finds the Autumn Court interesting as well.

This seems like a fun little idea, so I shall give it a try.

As a Beast, I would be either a Broadback or Hunterheart, of an ursine form. Broadback because I've been told many times that I am built like a D&D dwarf, though slightly taller. Hunterheart because I am a fighter and hunter, trained for many years in wrestling and MMA. Ursine form because when I was younger, around 6 or 7, this bear up in the poconoe mountains, where my grandparents lived, seemed to adopt me for the time I was there, actually protecting me from other animals when I was out in the forest.

Darkling seems to be the most likely seeming for me. I am damn near nocturnal when I don't have to do something during the day and sunlight and I do not get along at all. I would either be a Moonborn or a Razorhand. Moonborn because I've been told that I switch from Buddha like calm to Crazy-Maim-Kill mode, especially when fighting. Razorhand because I've spent years training in knife fighting.

As an Elemental, I would be an Earthbones. As an archaeologist, I spend the vast majority of my free time buried in the earth, to the point where it is my home away from home.

I am in no way, shape or form a Fairest of any sort.

As an Ogre I would be a Stonebones. Just look at my life motto in my sig, that is where this comes from.

For a Wizened, I am not sure what Kith I would be.

Court-wise I would definitely be of the Autumn Court, and probably of the Scarecrow Ministry as well.

So, a lot of Spring(-like) and Autumn folk, eh, and a nod to Summer and the Courtless. Am I these forums' only member inclined toward Winter or, more intensely, the Sun Court? (I'm also surprised to find myself standing rather alone on the high Clarity side of things.)

More to the point of the ongoing thread, some have recently brought up Entitlement, which I had entirely overlooked here. I submit an addendum to my self-portrait in claiming belonging with the Blackbird Bishops--which would only add to my avian qualities if a Beast.

I would be an ogre, probably one of the ones that takes after big foot. I love the out doors and am oddly good at sneaking around despite my bulkiness and often walk by myself in the woods. Also, I have a very bellicose/aggressive streak that totally jives with the contract of stone. I'd be summer or autumn court I think: Summer because I kind of have a warrior heart and autumn because I love fall and have always felt a bond with it.

Somehow I think I'd most likely be an Antiquarian if I was chosen for some of my more notable qualities (love of learning).

If I was chosen for more emotional qualities, I suspect I'd be either a Fireheart or Airtouched (raging hurricane). I'm not a calm person, and those kiths could reflect that. Plus, the alienation from humanity aspects of Elementals in general would be appropriate for describing me, being generally an introvert.

Out of all those, I think I'd like to be an airtoucked (turning into a gust of wind with Becoming the Primal Foundation sounds like loads of fun).

For court, I'd probably join the Autumn Court. Not so much because I want to spread fear, but more for their sorcerous undertakings. I'd definitely be interested in seeking out arcane secrets.

I would be a Fairest.

There might be kith introduced in one of the supplements that would fit me, but going by the core sourcebook I think I would be kithless. I'm quite good at moving in a formal social situation, as I was brought up (read: brainwashed) with very good manners and social etiquette, but like many of the Fairest I suffer from intense internal self-esteem issues while outwardly projecting charm and confidence.

I'm more than reasonably attractive, but I've never considered that my defining characteristic. I think I would be chosen for a Fairest to be more of a companion. I don't want to boast, but I have received many compliments for how well I can carry a pleasant conversation amongst many types of people.

I enjoy art immensely and am decently accomplished at singing, dance, and painting, but not well enough to be chosen as a Minstrel, Dancer, or what have you. I just lack the kind of burning talent that those kiths are described as having that drew the Gentry to them.

As for a Court affiliation, that is the most obvious. I would be a Spring courtier, but I think I would make a very good envoy to the Autumn Court because of my fondness for learning, especially of the occult and obscure variety (double major in the Classics and Art-History here).

I'd be a Dual Kith Dancer/Artist, but don't know if I would be a Fairest or a Wizened. (Probably an unsocial Fairest)
I have the body and movements of a dancer, you must have legs like mine to be allowed to enter a higher ballet school, my straight posture make a lot of dancers to believe I'm a dancer too, (But I am not, since I lack the sense of rhythm, otherwise I'd be a great ballet dancer), and I'm good at art, especially sculpture, small stuff and jewelry. I'm very good at jewelry. I also have an affinity for creating and repairing stuff, especially art. I'm charismatic and good at talking TO people and telling stuff, but, even though a good listener, am bad at talking WITH people, and bad at interaction. I like being with people, either few close friends, or lots and lots that give me attention, but not the numbers in between. I also hate to be IN big groups of people, but love to be on stage, especially with a big audience. I'm almost born on stage (Behind actually, In the hospital behind the circus where my parents worked), I'm raised on stage, and have lived on stage a bit, but not recently and I really miss the stage, and want to live and die on the stage. But I don't like to talk with ordinary people. And I have some social difficulties, even though being charismatic.

And due to my personality and manners being similar to a changelings, and having a rather low clarity for being human, I'd be a rather high-Wyrd low Clarity changeling. (Maybe start at Cl 5, W3, dual kith and brownies boon merit, Phys first, int second, soc third).
