(see the front home page)

What does it mean?

What are the consequences for people who are part of the Camarilla?

What about the many groups who are not in any way affiliated with the Camarilla?

(This is kind of a me bringing the annoucement to your attention and raising it as a topic of discussion thread.)

Gods, I have almost forgot it does get updated every once in a while :P Thanks for bringing that up here, Christian, or it'd take me days or even weeks to notice there was something going on.

Never been part of it, but I know some people who do, and my guesses go in two directions.

One, chronicles will get weirder and wilder. That is a good thing. Organizers will have more free room to experiment and make live action less predictable.
Two, they'll need to work harder since there'll be no word from on high to guide where local chronicles should go. That's the price of freedom, chaps. (And incidentally, I bet a number of people I know who complained a lot about being "forced" to adapt to nWoD and/or that they couldn't do what they wanted will remain playing their chronicles in the state they are now, and in a few months or years down the road will complain about lack of storytelling support from WW. That's just the nature of these things.)

I'd imagine that most of them didn't try to join (or at some point were part of the club but left) because they wanted to have more freedom to do what they really wanted, which means we may see a surge of applications to the Cam. But that's just a guess. Otherwise, nothing really changes for them, does it?

I think this is a good thing. Or maybe I am hoping so hard that I am deluding myself into thinking this is a good thing. Who knows?

I know a lot of local gamers who are going to be excited to hear that the OWoD is coming back (as an option, of course). Most of them have said they would go back if the OWoD emerged once again so for folks like that this is very good news.

The website is getting revamped. Excellent news!

The stats on brick and mortar stores was strartling, even frightening. I don't know what I would do without my FLGS. However, it is nice to hear that White Wolf is planning for their survival in the future. I just don't know how I feel about an electronic catalogue of books. I know this is the way of the future and all but I love the smell and feel of books in my hands. I love the space they take up on my shelves. I love collecting books. I love PDFs too, they are very handy but if I had my way I would want both. I am even happy to pay for both (which I have done numerous times now).

It will be interesting to see how things pan out.

WoD MMO... Works continues but they have the right people on the job and their heads are in the right place I think. I look forward to it.

Just my thoughts...

Watch your wording there or else we are going to have about a dozen posts in the next 3 months saying "I heard the OWOD is coming back."

The news says something to the effect: "We recognize that, that means a some of you are going to go back to the OWOD" not that that OWOD is coming back.

Honestly I've played in the Camarilla before and while it was always a noble experiment, it was still just an experiment that had become full of a lot of Elitists that felt they knew better than everyone.  It will be interesting to see where they go now that they've been given just enough rope to hang themselves.

You are right. The OWoD is not coming back but the opportunity to play what you want is the key. Thank you for clarifying.

See, that's one of the reasons why I never joined the Cam. I don't see the need for my elitism to reach out and touch other peoples' games. No, really. I've got my way of doing things, in terms of setting and house rules, and I like being able to do that without outside interference or my own games infringing on other peoples'.

Not 1 thing, the ICC is the International Camarilla Conclave. so its all about the fan club.

its a shame there is no cam uk any more, because i could see some of these changes being beneficial to the organization as a whole.

but then, that is just me.

The tools they are building are going to be available to any player, not just the members of the Cam.

The tools are easily the part of the announcement I am most interested in, a I don't larp myself.  I had predicted before that a digital tool suite / possible VTT would be an offering that would be available with a subscription to the WoD MMO, as it seems a clever way to both encourage continued subscription for casual MMO players but serious Tabletop players as well as piggy-back some of the cost of implementation onto the much greater budget of that project, so im a little shocked that this will be something offered via what is presumably some kind of hero lab 2.0 from Lone Wolf.

It definitely has the potential to be cool, not the least of which because my theory would have required waiting for something like this for god knows how many years; I'm feverishly awaiting further details on that project!

I just hope the tools are Mac friendly. Tired of all the Mac hate by game developers

It's not Mac hate so much as it is that Mac takes entirely different set of coding to program for and covers only a small share of the home computing business.

True enough. The easy way to make it work for both systems is to make it web based.

I agree.

I also liked the bit about easing up on the rules for fan sites.
