So I know that around '94 SJ Games published GURPS versions of Vampire, Werewolf, and Mage. And they published the companion book for Vampire.

I wouldn't have thought much of the fact that this was a one-time printing, with no further development between the two companies(too bad, maybe GURPS could've gotten on to the CCP games action and made up for the loss of Fallout). However, when I've asked about these books, occasionally someone makes a cryptic comment referring to some sort of fall out or soured relationship between the two companies. The writer for GURPS Mage even made such an implication once.

So..uh...what happened?

Oh, also. What edition of Vampire was used for the GURPS conversion? I'm presuming the second rather than the first. It would be nice if the GURPS version doubled as a peek back into earlier themes of Vampire, since board posters have often implied the earlier versions(despite mechanics problems) focused more on the "personal horror", night-by-night aspects rather than the Gehenna/Red Star business that seemed to appear on the horizon in the early 2000's.
