Luckily, while Luna may be the God of Shapeshifting, Malfeas is the god of having a fucking social perfect defense (among other things), which I was able to train quickly enough. Next thing you know, pow! Infinite damage, right to the face! And then we're going at it! Three rounds, Solar vs Akuma! Then, you know, three rounds of going at it in the other sense. Awesome. Sounds better than most Solar/Lunar bonds. And I somehow never pictured Malfeas an enabler of fair and balanced relationships until now. I'd be interested in this too. I mean, as a GSP I enjoy having more allies, especially of the kind that still has a bit of humanity and sanity left to help us on our quest to fix Creation, but the Ebon Dragon, seriously? I don't trust that guy as far as I can throw him (especially since I started using social defenses when he explains to me why he's the best guy ever). And I don't really have the charms to throw a 50-mile-dragon at all. Sure, technically it's still a car -- but you don't really think of it that way. Reathin wrote:Five Rivers: There's a party at the Shattered Skull this evening. The only way for me to beat that is for me to preemptively drink all the ale at your party, and at all adjacent parties. And thanks to Lunar speed charms, uh-
I'm really sorry friend, I really thought it was going to be a good party. I'll crush some coal into diamonds for you so you can buy more ale.

Meditate on this lesson for several hours. I will be handing out a quiz.
Reathin wrote:Ivory Wind: Of all the martial arts you have studied in pursuit of your Urge, which do you believe has proven the most practicaly beneficial? Its combat potential is highly underrated (although its still not the best), but its simple, elegant beauty as a style would make it worth taking even if that wasn't the case.
Nobody has any class anymore, in this day and age. Its all lasers and robots and steam power. There's no beauty or grace left in combat. Silver Voiced Nightingale is the style you use to take a rooms breath away, to stand before an army and make them weep for the thought of striking you. It is how you produce a single, clear note from your weapons, to make the lotus petals fall from the tree.
And silence is good for enemies who talk too much. When you have explained how you killed their master, and drawn your blade, and there is nothing more to say -- it stops pointless babble from ruining the serenity of combat. You can shut your eyes and the world goes away. AnimeHus wrote:Question mostly for Amber River: What was your life like before your became an akuma, what lead you to become one and, in particular, why did you choose our good friend, the Ultimate Darkness?
Same for Ivory Wind with regards to Qaf. Ivory Wind wrote:History has largely forgotten what the world was like, in the wake of the Faerie Invasion. It is not as glorious a time as the First Age, nor as relevant to present affairs as the rule of the Scarlet Empire. But there was a time, before the Empress established her rule, where pockets of faerie survivors ran amuck -- and the Lunars who came in their wake were totally unchecked.
My parents did quite well for themselves, in that chaos. My mother was a great warrior and my father a skilled diplomat. Between them, they were able to pull the pieces of Shogunate society together from the ruins, building a little empire all their own, keeping the peace and guarding against the fae. I had a good life, growing up -- the comfort and ease of wealth, and the support to pursue the higher studies. My parents were my role models, and my only real fear was earning their disappointment.
Naturally, with so much history and political intrigue in their lives, and so many complex connections to the outside world, the Lunar who killed them just wanted my mothers artifacts. He broke down the doors to our estate one night, when I was sixteen years of age -- I lept to try to stop him. And he ignored me.
I would say that I was simply irreverent. But looking back, I'm fairly certain I was actually a steady source of motes for him. I had more chance of beating the Imperial Mountain into pebbles with my fists then breaking his hardness, and...well. I'm sure you all know how Exalted combat works.
He left me there after.
I did not go to Qaf for vengeance, nor to have them back. I knew nothing would ever make the world right again. He simply promised that I would transcend my pain. And through his enlightenment, I did. Five Rivers wrote:Ha ha. Wow. Uh...this is awkward. Amber River wrote:Two words: Stress-ful. Say that's only one word? I was so stressed that one word couldn't contain how stressed I was, so it spontaneously became two. That is how much my old job sucked. See, Solars? Have it easy. Any evil you run into, you have the power to stop. And if you can't stop it, its because some serious evil mojo was determined to make it happen, so you can at least console yourself that its not really your fault.
When you're a Sidereal? Everything that happens inside Fate is your problem. Guy beating his girlfriend? Old woman crippled by a freak injury? Child slavery and abuse? Sure, some of that is demons -- but for the most part? All of that is either happening because Fate says its supposed to happen, or because you were too damn busy to go and fix it. It, every bit of it? Your fault. Personally.
Now, as you're all aware -- most Sidereals deal with that by just being total jerkfaces all the time, but me? I wasn't going to give up that easy. I got minions to Craft Fate for me so we could work more people -- got a faerie to punch me with the Inexhaustible mutation so I wouldn't have to sleep. You could tell I'd been through a town because, suddenly, nobody was sick, everyone was in genuinely loving relationships, and all the kids wanted to become Terrestrial Martial Artists to help defend their home.
But, there's a lot of towns in Creation. More then anyone could hope to keep up with -- and all that tampering with Fate torques off Gods with clout. It stressed me, sure, but it wasn't until a village I'd saved was destroyed by our gods because I hadn't filled out the proper paperwork to save it that I really snapped. Said and did some very unwise things, the kind that leave you in prison awaiting a Severity 5 Censure.
And that's when Ebbie came to me! Cutie showed up in my prison cell and let me give him a big hug -- I really needed a hug then. He said that if I sold my soul to him, he'd let me retain my compassion and desire to help people, and I'd have the power to touch the lives of everyone in Creation at once! And making those charges just go away was a really nice side perk.
