What is the scope of the questions?  Is the intent for questions to be single line rules questions that are occasionally overlooked (such as "can Mortals trade Morality for experience points" or "how much does a 2 dot Merit cost")?  Or is the intent for questions to include misinterpreted concepts (such as "one attack roll is not a single punch" and "Morality is not the same thing as morality")?

I'd say both actually. Basically, this should be common questions that come up quite abit from new people. So, whatever you think may need to go in such a faq.

It's a FAQ. So any frequently asked question qualifies. Or in other words, if someone would post a question and you sigh and complain to yourself 'not that topic again, we have discussed this before several times now' then it most certainly qualifies.

The problem is that some of those questions don't have 100% solid answers.  Rules calls are one thing, but trait interpretations, even commonly held interpretations, are a bit more subjective.

For now I want to stick with just 100% certainties.

Then please be sure to have proper citations for every answer. I just hate it when FAQs have nothing but one's word to back them up. Thank you! J
Please don't call me Herr Strudel. I'm not German, I'm from the USA. The reason I choose the screen name Don Strudel is because I am Don Strudel is an anagram of Tom Anus Riddle.

Another reason why I made this thread first, to be sure everyone here agrees with the FAQ.

I can't seem to edit my post, but is this better?

Q:  Can a Vampire Embrace [X]?
A:  Major Templates (Werewolves, Mages, Prometheans, Changelings) cannot be Embraced and just die, Minor Templates lose their Minor Template when Embraced.

Depends what the storyteller wants.  It is a Tool box game for a reason.

My one rule is no stacking of Major Templates.

Minor Templates are really merits.

And that's valid.  It's just that we're trying to establish a baseline of what the official material actually says and recommends, which is that Minor Templates are lost when a Major Template is applied.

Different minor templates will supersede each other as well.  Ghouling removes access to psychic merits as well as the benefits of being wolf-blooded as Vitae in the affected being's system disrupts the connection that wolf-blooded have to their spiritual side.  Once the Vitae is out of the system then the previous minor template returns.

Q:  When making a Contested roll, does the winner apply all of his or her successes or just the difference between the higher and lower roll?

A:  The winner applies all of the successes he or she rolled.

Q: Do you need to buy all Merit dots with XP?
A: Yes, you need to pay for each dot, even if the dot doesn't do anything.
Example: The Giant Merit costs: 2x1 + 2x2 + 2x3 + 2x4 = 20 XP.

I'd call that a bad example. I would not allow Giant to be purchased with starting XP in my games. Other people might, and that's fine, but that's the ST's call. The example for this question should be something not restricted to character creation only.

Very good points. Thanks for pointing it out to me. I'll go for my favorite tabletop example instead then: Striking Looks.

I 'll have to check when I get home, but I could swear that I remember reading that body parts can come from any former supernatural, but it doesn't affect the resulting Promethean beyond maybe justification for odd Merits, maybe some stranger body memories.

The only possible concern here is Changeling bodies being used, since their bodies remain infused with glamour after death (i.e. a changeling's body retains the Mask unless they die with no glamour in their pool.)

So god knows what that'd do. Unforutnately Changeling wasn't out so Promethean doesn't address the issue... does it come up in any of the 'ling books?

It doesn't to my knowledge.

The easy answer is that the pyros infusing the Promie-in-the-making burns away the Mask completely as the limb becomes something no longer of Faerie.  What the result is, is a different issue all together.
