Michael Dracon:
General WoD:
Q: Do you need to buy all Merit dots with XP?
A: Yes, you need to pay for each dot, even if the dot doesn't do anything.
Example: The Giant Merit costs: 2x1 + 2x2 + 2x3 + 2x4 = 20 XP.

Except at character creation only, obviously.

Zeev:
It doesn't to my knowledge.

The easy answer is that the pyros infusing the Promie-in-the-making burns away the Mask completely as the limb becomes something no longer of Faerie.  What the result is, is a different issue all together.

Of course, Prometheans have their own version of a Mask, which hides their Disfigurements, so it could be possible for a Changeling limb used in the creation of a Promethean to retain its Mien, cloaked in the Promethean's own mirage.  I'd agree that the Pyros burns away any and all remaining Glamour, resulting in nothing more then a Promethean with an extremely unique Disfigurement.

Of course, that's all pure speculation on my part, so take it with as much salt as recommended by your doctor.

Q:  What are those little plastic things at the end of your shoelaces called?
A:  Don't make me hit you.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Q)  Does a vampire's bite do aggravated damage?
A)  No, it does lethal damage:  V:tR p.165 'Vampire's Bite' sidebar.

How about this one?

"Q: So I really have to spend XP on a Social Merit (Allies, Contacts, Retainer, etc) that I have cultivated through play? For instance, if I befriend a fireman by saving his life, do I really have to spend XP to make him my Retainer?

A: The default assumption is that, yes, you do. XP represents spending time and effort to solidify a relationship that, otherwise, exists solely for roleplay. In the above example, the fireman may be your friend and may even loyally do favors for the character, but it is not an asset on which the character can rely. Spending XP ensures that the described relationship will always exist, barring some kind of story mechanism that severs that asset. Many STs consider these sorts of actions - such as saving the above character's life - to be justification for purchasing such Merits, and many STs do not allow these Merits to be purchased at all without justification.

However, there is sufficient disagreement about this issue that some STs rule that such Merits may be granted as freebies or indeed only granted as freebies (meaning, you cannot buy them with XP) via in character actions and rewards. This is not considered a default assumption, but it is a perfectl valid way of playing the game."

I know it's long, but i've seen it come up again and again on the forums. It's also fairly politic, I think, but it could be edited to be less contraversal.

Would you please provide page numbers, links or even the exact quotes from the erata, article or webpage where the "developers jumped in to say" that the information in The Blood about vampire bites causing aggravated damage against other supernatural beings was "a slip?" I really would love to clarify this point for my game. I can not find this in my searches.

Thank you

It was stated a number of times [by the developers] on the old forums, but I'm not sure if it has been stated since. It doesn't have an exact article or page to be referenced, because it was never published.

I would hope that would change in the future, but I assure you, fangs don't do agg.

Err, no, if you have XP at character creation (e.g. from lowering your Morality-equivalent or from bonus starting XP) you still have to buy each dot individually, and you still pay for each dot with your initial character creation points--it's just that when spending your initial creation points, the dot costs don't scale up. A 2-dot Merit costs 2 of your starting 7 Merit dots, or 6 XP if you have any starting XP.

Err, no

I believe the point was that the specific Merit cited was a creation only one.

BTW, just so you know, I'll keep this thread open for abit, and we'll try to figure out what to do with it. This was Micheal Dracon's project, and I'm not sure what the end result would have been.

I'll talk about it with the otehr Mods, and we'll try to figure out what to do.

But, I'll leave this open.

I thought this was a useful post. I'm copying it here, as I can't think of a better place for it. I also don't want it to be eaten by the forums.

Kyouka:
Since apparently many people do not realize that these following indexes existed for your gaming convenience, and since I have been asked nicely to share them with everyone...I give unto you the complete list of WoD indexes!

World of Darkness
Hunter: The Vigil
Mage: The Awakening
Werewolf: The Forsaken
Vampire: The Requiem
Promethean: The Created
Changeling: The Lost
Geist: The Sin-Eaters

Important to note however that while they are not exactly 100% up to date anymore since books obviously came out after they were written, the vast majority of all WoD content, including which book and which page numbers they may be found at are included. In addition, these were not written by me and all credit should be given to the original authors who may be found at the bottom of each link. Please enjoy.
