Creating a Garret like character from the thief games as a changeling?

I've been wanting to create a character like this for a while.

For those who haven't heard of him, he was the main character in the Thief video game series.  See this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thief_(series).  In summary, he is a wise-cracking thief with loose morals who's still willing to save the world, while maybe make a little money on the side.

I want to adopt him into a modern day character. Probably a darkling, maybe a winter court member, though autumn and dusk both sound appealing as well.  I'm having trouble tieing those in though, if anyone has any ideas let me know.  

His durance could be caused by stealing from the wrong person? Forever being trapped in darkness, sneaking out, blah blah blah.  Anyone else?

I think the character is a bit.. lacking in much to go off of for CtL inspiration.

That's why I posted here.  I was hoping to have help in fleshing it out.

Hmm ... he seems like a Darkling, but I've never played the games so I don't really have any idea what Kith I'd choose.  Maybe make a Darkling version of a Levinquick?  That's an Elemental Kith that allows the changeling to spend Glamour to increase Speed and Initiative.

Contracts of Smoke and Darkness seem appropriate.

Ok.  The thing is, it's pretty hard to do with just the basic character from the game.

What about the character makes you want to recreate him as a RPG character?
What about him makes you want to make him a changeling specifically?
How true to the original character do you want to be?
What do you want his motivations and goals to be?

Etc.

Basically, give us something to sink our teeth into.  With this sort of conversion, we'll make much better suggestions if we know what you want out of the base idea.
