I can't think of anything that would cause that really, are you perhaps trying the same time everyday and maybe its a busy network time near you?

Some people are like slinkies.  They're not really good for anything, but they put a smile on your face when you push them down the stairs...

Wild guess: An anti-virus/spam/whatever program that has put the secure (https) WW site on a blacklist? This is assuming WW uses that for loging in, which I don't know if they do.

Can you try de-activating any such program and try again? Be sure to also check programs that may automatically delete certain types of cookies. If you have a computer nerd available to check your PC have him check if the HOSTS file doesn't include odd stuff.

want: a link on the bottom of the page, somewhere next to the pages links, or yet better, near the 'previous' and 'next' links, which returns you to the forum the thread is in, and one for the main forum. i mean, i hope it doesn't sound petty, but i don't like having to scroll to the top of the page every time i want to leave a thread.
method to the madness.

Weird. I just tried it on my system using IE8 and it worked fine. Hmmm..

I know that is nosy but... this error happens on server side. The SQL Server has a field that is of type Varchar/Nvarchar or Varbinary/Image with an specified size that is small compaired to something you (skalfe) are sending.
Skalfe: if it is still happening, maybe a cookie or something like your username or password or so is automatically being sent to the server when you enter the page of the webstore.

Just a programer here trying to help. Sorry if it doesn't or if WW technical staff don't like my technical opinions.

Yea, I'd say to maybe try to clear the browser cache and cookies and see if that helps..

Good call.

Is there a way to jump to the first unread post of a long thread? I can't seem to find one.

Not that I have seen. You can jump to the very first post, and the very last post made, but not the last post you have read.

Click on the "Email me when someone replies" link at the top of each page of the thread.  You'll get emails to link you to the posts that get put up after you click the link...each post, unfortunately.  Each and every one gets a separate email.  Sometimes I get multiple emails about one post, but I'm not sure if that's because of White Wolf or my email.

Hmm, that's a shame. Thanks for the suggestion, but the feature is more useful on longer threads, which would mean tons of emails. That would drive me nuts. Oh well.

Thanks, we're aware of this one and tracking it down. It doesn't happen to everyone running IE8 and has a lot to do with how many addons, toolbars, etc you have running on your browser (they get added to the browser string in the HTTP header significantly increasing its length). We're working on a fix that should be available soon.
