Well, sure. With standardized Death, they do. But when you say "magic" and "zombie" in the same sentence, what to people think of more often than not? Voodoo.

The Loa have a cool factor compared to thor and zues?

No but they do to Osiris and the Tuatha de Dannan. I expected the top two are the top two just not why Loa aren't higher up.

I imagine the pesedjet have the same kinda iconic"ness" that the aesir and dodek do...but are boring.  i think for most people they are the 3rd most well known pantheon.

The tuatha i think its related to the heritage of the players.   I know once companion came out two of my irish players immediatly wanted to switch.

I know what you mean, we once joked about playing rock paper scissors to see which one of us could play the scion of D'Artagnan when companion came out we even talked about playing all french pantheon game once

hehe I think thats my problem. I am Polish, I love my heritage. So I tend to play/run alot of Rus.
I have several NPCs that are Pesedjet they make more sense as NPCs, same with Celestial Bureaucracy.
Thor and Zeus to me are kinda boring..
"what do you do?" storyteller
"I throw something at them..... Heriocally" scion of Thor.
"I stand here and look cool.... Then I throw something." scion of Zeus.

If I had a larger player base I would probably do something were people were limited in their choices of Pantheons. Just to get them to try soemthing different. As a Storyteller I try to put in NPCs of gods/pantheons the players think suck cause of PSP or associated abilities. Often when they see them in action they reverse their inital thoughts.
Best example- Scion of Queztocoatl- Epic Charsima and Magic mostly, support character, sorta.

I love all the different combination of abilities. I'm so glad I'm the storyteller. Showing players that you can be cool/heroic and not be a combat monster is always fun.

My character Saltmarsh Andy Scion of Mannanan mac Lir is a good example of this. High mentals and socials, no combat skills to speak of. He buffs and curses more then anything in combat.

That is if your players are all playing combat characters and do not want to be a support character. There are gods that have Scions who are good at support, like Loki and Queztcoatl.

But most of the time however cool and heroic these characters are as NPCs, they might not be so as a PC. NPCs have the advantage of being there and being useful because the ST wanted them to be there and needed them to be useful. That's why they seem cool/heroic. Sometimes these Scions are very one sided, they can't function well outside of their chosen area which is why they are NPCs, they'd be sucktastic if they were PCs.

I dunno I tend to like my support character. He does more then one thing, sure, but does not fight, and he is a full fledged PC in a game I am not running. Playing a character skilled at beefing the party up can be fun so long as you can do some things yourself, but those things need not be combat.

My Scion of Odin is largely a support character. She's Epic Perception/Magic/Psychopomp heavy, so her greatest assets are those that allow her to direct and aid the damage dealers. Once I get a couple more knacks, she'll be able to do accuracy pretty well, but as someone with no Relic weapons and no Epic Strength, there's only so much damage she'll ever be dealing, and I'm fine with that. She can mess people up plenty with just Magic.

In the game I storytell: There's only one primary combat character.

-The manitou scion. He's got epic strenght and epic dexterity as well as very high combat skills...
-The Deva is based on epic perception, intelligence and sun/moon with some epic dexterity
-The Loa is all about epic mentals and some epic social as secondary along with death and cheval
-The Fallen has no combat ability whatsoever. He's maxed out in epic socials, mentals and his pantheon power
Can Truth be perceived or are our minds closed to it forever by our mortal failings? It is impossible to know, but the quest never ends and perhaps someday a flicker of these things will be perceived...

I agree, support characters that are properly built fulfill their function well.

The characters I was talking about in that part where you quoted me were those NPCs that chromethous mentioned - characters of gods that were passed over by the players.

I have a scion of Artemis who is more the scout and the one that gathers intel, or sneaks past the dragon. At combat, he can fire silver arrows, but only in emergency. He is more likely to pull off a gadget in an unexpected way to help the others or to sneak along and get help.

And he isn't useless, in fact he has saved his band no less then 3 times

That's the greatest part of the game. If you put the thought into the character and the choices for boons/knacks etc. You will never be useless.. Some people think if you can't tear a buick in half or slice it twain they're not useful.
I love looking at the various abilities and trying to find nifty ways to use them. I'm starting to consider the Purview as a Power and try that. Its on the wiki page, Seems like an interesting take on the whole idea of godly powers.

Three of  my players have made secondary characters just in case. They all made Dodekathon, Scion of Ares, Scion of Hesphetuas and a Scion of Apollo.
