I have always been a big fan of the flaws as they are written in nWoD. Reason being, that players will try to maximize the benefits while minimizing the drawbacks. This isn't "bad roleplaying" or "powergaming"... it's just a natural reaction to the system. Under nWoD rules, a flaw is only worth as much as it hinders you.

My only concern with this system is that bidding on a thing is based on the idea of competition... and most role-playing games are not built for players to compete with one another for anything. The most likely scenario is that rather than compete for a card, the players will conspire with each other, that way they can maximize their benefits. At least

If I were playing, I would play a grown-up version of one of the girls from My Neighbor Totoro, as an awakened Thyrsus. But that totally flies in the face of the mood you are trying to set up, but that's players for you. ;]
