Antidiluvians are going to see their most common incarnation in a game setting as storytelling devices. They aren't normal characters, they're forces that impact the setting and act as a catalyst for the players.
This sums up my opinions on the matter. Antediluvians arent just very powerful characters

For those interested on a philosophical conflict of convictions, willing to pick one and represent its road toward its apotheosis, Mage will be interesting. And for those only interested into tossing fireballs and fighing cyborgs, Mage will also be interesting. But if you put players of both groups on the same table, one will automatically screw the

  • Re: Best opening fiction?

Wow, how curious, I see a lot of you liked the Guide to Sabbat's opening short story. I personally disliked it, but I take it it has to do with translation. That story seems to carry a typical "american" dark mood, and maybe translation ruined it to me (I'm Brazillian.) One of my favorite introductions is the one from Clanbook: Nosferatu

Debate would be pretty simple, really. ~//~ The Technocrat : Okay, wait, let me see if I get it. You guys team wiccans with hackers, vodoo people with mad scientists with bruce-lee wannabes, and those weird guys in suit who swear that death en masse is a matter of poetic balance and not of psychosis; you guys want these, say, "heterogenic"

For a neonate, it could be interesting to have her messing up over a "good intentioned" thing. Maybe she engaged in a fight against another weak kindred, gang-bangers or minor threat (in order to repel them from that territory so she could brag about it) but actually it turns out her actions were more destructive than the antagonists themselves

  • Re: "Storytelling Device" Discussion.

The point is exactly NOT explaining. Also not related to how many dots in Dementation or whatever the NPC has, but the fact that it is an agent of madness (the malkavian of my example isnt even 8th gen. but is still a malkavian!). As Hod said, not knowing what is going on adds some spice to the game, so when you play with people who also enjoy the game

  • "Storytelling Device" Discussion.

First off, let me apologize for what will be a somewhat long post! Now, by "storytelling device" I dont mean the "level ten discipline effects" as refered on Gehenna, but actually small aspects of scenes which may spice up things on a chronicle, or at least give it an interesting twist. Sometimes I consider just making up effects

  • Re: Wall Walking discipline?

Or plot device, aka "the storyteller says so". If you desperately need a rule for the specific effect you said, the generic excuse is pretty much along the lines of: "Thaumaturgic Ritual". But it doesn't take a lot of Vampire sessions to realize that if you go by the book in terms of what the NPCs can do, the "horror"

  • Re: Daughters of Cacophony

I know that Montreal by Night has one or two cannon daughters, but they're Sabbat, which excludes them from what I need. I have plenty ideas to make an interesting Daughter but I'd like to see what official books brought to us too.
