You realize that I'm the OP right? :) Anyway, I definitely understand your point of view, but I disagree that the dreaming task doesn't have any requirements or limitations on the use of dream access as written. I also disagree with the usefulness of uninhibited dream access. I don't disagree that it IS useful, I just don't think it's
Personally, I think that this makes it easier to come up with character names, rather than more difficult.
Oh no, you're absolutely right! I'm sorry I was unclear. My difficulty with coming up with a good image/seeming/kith/court combo for a new NPC is unconnected with my difficulty at coming up with

I see your point, mb, but especially after re-reading the text, disagree. It only places no limits on your actions within the person's dreams if you only look at the first sentence. If you go beyond that, it's very clear that the task means you're protecting someone's dreams. "The dreaming task permits the changeling who swears

Okay, that totally jives with how I was interpreting it, and I was with you until the last paragraph. The doorways is still throwing me. This is my understanding of doorways into and out of the Hedge, correct me if I'm wrong. In the mortal world, any door, archway, window, mirror, or other bound space (between two trees, under a bridge, etc.) can

Okay, so I thought I had a pretty good grasp on the Hedge, but as I start to actually run a game, I realize I don't. I'm hoping some of you veterans can lend me your insight. The big thing that's throwing me is finding an exit to the Hedge. I have a lot of questions. The book says that you can get out through an activated doorway even if

The other difficult thing about needing a spur-of-the-moment changeling is that, unlike, say, vampires, changelings can vary wildly in appearance based on seeming and kith, and sometimes even court (if they have particularly intense mantles). I think I need to come up with a "random changeling generator" that will throw together a random seeming

This time I don't have the book with me, so I could be wrong, but this isn't how I've read the Dreaming Task. If I have an Endeavor in my Pledge, just the fact that I take "Endeavor, Medial" doesn't mean anything. It's the wording of the Pledge itself that determines what I've promised to do and, consequently, when
This sort of thing is why I decided to house rule Mantle.
And your house rule is what, exactly?
-
It's been awhile since I've perused any relevant information on Courtless changelings, so if this is covered in any of the books, please just point me at a page number. But, in the stuff on the Mantle merit, it points out that Mantle isn't really an indication of social status, but rather indicates the level to which the changeling is mystically

Nice list, thanks! So far, for my monarchs, I've just been taking unusual names from the contemporary American section of the story-games names project pdf and giving them (sometimes) a nickname. So my Autumn monarch is Regent Laticia "Heartless" Hettenhausen (she's a Manikin) and I'm fairly satisfied with it. But as I'd like
