V:tR seems to suggest lethal (for vamps) for headshots as a viable and understandable option, but giving the ST the final call. Armory just states that headshots are lethal - no ST call needed. I'd imagine an ancient ghoul to be a very formidable opponent, more so than most vampires - what with no torpor/fog of ages; no daytime issues; no tell-tell mirror blur; capacity to heal, get mortal support easily etc. What would happen psychologically to someone who'd been a ghoul for that long? With called shots you get damage + effect, whether causing lethal to vamps, or knock-out, or hobbling or dropping items etc. Soon it becomes pointless to roll for any shot that isn't called, since a few dice less doesn't seem to outweigh the benefits. Put it this way, why would anyone shoot a vampire away from the head or heart? Pretty soon
